SK Hynix Stock After Q2 2026 Earnings: Record AI Memory Profit Meets a Harder Market
SK Hynix reported record second-quarter 2026 results, with revenue of 79.319 trillion won, operating profit of 60.543 trillion won and net profit of 93.923 trillion won, underscoring strong demand for high-bandwidth memory used in AI infrastructure. Kospi Falls Below 5,300 as Selloff Deepens for Second Straight Day
South Korean stocks extended their steep selloff on Wednesday, with the Kospi dropping as much as 12.63% to 5,262.77 and falling below 5,300 for the first time in nearly six months. The benchmark triggered a circuit breaker for the second straight day, while the Kosdaq also halted trading, marking the first time both markets had circuit breakers activated on consecutive sessions. Heavy selling by retail and foreign investors, led by semiconductor shares such as Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, drove the decline. The slide deepened concerns about the sustainability of the AI and chip rally that had previously lifted the Kospi to record highs.

South Korea’s KOSPI fell 8% on Wednesday, deepening a July slide of about 35% as heavy selling hit the country’s biggest semiconductor names. The decline has intensified concerns over semiconductor valuations and broader exposure to chip stocks across Asian markets.

Core Scientific also expanded its AI push through an AMD partnership covering more than 500 megawatts of capacity starting in 2027, with the potential to scale to 2.5 gigawatts.
