MultiChoice Overhauls DStv and GOtv Lineups With Eight New Packages From November 5

MultiChoice Nigeria has unveiled a sweeping restructuring of its DStv and GOtv subscription lineups, introducing eight new packages that the company says will give customers more entertainment options, improved access to sport and better value for money.

The changes were announced on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at a media briefing where the company presented its new DStv Expect More offering — one of its most significant product overhauls since the pay-TV operator became part of French broadcasting giant CANAL+. Under the new structure, DStv will offer four packages — Starter, Select, Sports and Premium — while GOtv will be reorganised into Easy, Starter, Select and Sports. The new lineups are scheduled to become available from November 5, 2026, as part of MultiChoice's broader effort to simplify its subscription structure and respond to changing consumer preferences.

Restructuring driven by changing viewing habits

Speaking at the unveiling, MultiChoice Nigeria Chief Executive Kemi Omotosho said the reorganisation followed a review of the company's overall business strategy, noting that a growing share of entertainment is now consumed on smartphones, smart TVs, tablets and streaming services.

"We have overhauled the entire strategy of the business. And what we're telling you today is just one piece of that strategy," Omotosho said.

The company acknowledged that its existing DStv and GOtv structures had become complicated for customers, with too many options making it difficult for subscribers to identify which package best suited their entertainment needs.

"We think we have too many packs today. If I ask anyone here what pack they are on, maybe five out of seven might remember, but two might not remember because there are just too many packs," she added.

According to MultiChoice, the new subscription structure is built around three priorities: simplicity, better value for money and greater customer choice.

Pricing and package details

A central highlight of the overhaul is a new DStv entry-level package priced at ₦6,000 per month, giving subscribers access to local entertainment, movies, music and selected sporting events. DStv Select will cost ₦11,000 monthly, while the Sports and Premium tiers will be priced at ₦21,000 and ₦44,500, respectively. The Sports package is designed particularly for football enthusiasts, providing access to major competitions alongside general entertainment channels, while Premium remains the highest subscription tier, offering a broader selection of sports, movies, documentaries and international entertainment.

For GOtv customers, the new Easy package will serve as the entry-level offering, followed by Starter, Select and Sports. MultiChoice also announced a ₦15,000 decoder and subscription bundle, and customers will have the option of subscribing to DStv's streaming service without purchasing a decoder — an option that speaks directly to the viewing shift the company described, giving households that primarily watch on phones or smart TVs a way to access DStv content without decoder hardware. Further details are available on the official DStv website.

"We've overhauled the entire package. So we're not referring to our old packs. This is a whole new lineup of new packages that we've launched for our customers," Senior Vice President Tope Oshikoya explained.

Premium content pushed down the tiers

Beyond restructuring its packages, MultiChoice is expanding access to premium sports and entertainment channels that were previously reserved for higher subscription tiers. Among the additions is SuperSport KickOff, which will bring selected major football matches — including a Premier League match of the week — to subscribers on lower-priced packages.

The company also confirmed that its ₦21,000 DStv Sports package will provide access to all UEFA Champions League and Premier League matches, alongside Europa League fixtures, NBA basketball and other sports programming. This means football fans will no longer need to subscribe to the more expensive Compact Plus package from the previous lineup to watch all Champions League matches.

Movie lovers are also set to benefit from the restructuring, with M-Net Movies+ bringing blockbuster movies and international entertainment to more affordable packages. MultiChoice is refreshing its movie offerings with channels dedicated to popular stars and classic films. On the local entertainment front, the company announced Africa Magic Plus, a variety channel combining African productions with international shows, music, children's programming and telenovelas.

GOtv subscribers are also expected to benefit from expanded football coverage and additional movie channels, including entertainment previously unavailable on the platform.

According to MultiChoice, these changes are intended to make premium content accessible to more households without requiring customers to move to the highest subscription tiers. The new packages take effect across both platforms from November 5, when subscribers will be able to compare the restructured tiers at each price point for themselves.
