Burn activity picks up
According to data from the Shibburn website, 39.23 million SHIB were sent to dead wallets — addresses from which tokens can no longer be accessed or spent — over the past 24 hours, lifting the Shiba Inu daily burn rate by more than 88%. Burns are the supply-side mechanism by which SHIB is permanently removed from circulation, and Shibburn logs each such transfer as it lands in a dead wallet.
Over the past seven days, a total of 192.84 million SHIB was burned, although the weekly burn rate declined by 38.86%. Across a 30-day window, 3.48 billion SHIB was burned.
On a cumulative basis, 410,843,929,693,979 SHIB has been burned out of Shiba Inu's initial supply of 1 quadrillion tokens across 21,631 transactions. The bulk of that total dates to May 2021, when Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin sent roughly 410 trillion SHIB — about 41% of the initial supply, which anonymous founder Ryoshi had transferred to him — to a dead wallet, with the remainder accruing from ongoing community and ecosystem burns. Set against the roughly 589 trillion SHIB left of the original supply, the 39.23 million tokens burned in the latest 24 hours represent a tiny fraction.
Ecosystem developments
The past week also brought significant developments for Shiba Inu. U.S. crypto exchange UEX US announced a SHIB listing that lets Shiba Inu users trade the token against more than 180 other currencies, earn through Savings Rewards, and borrow up to 90% LTV without selling in order to buy more SHIB.
In Japan, Laser Digital Japan — the Japanese entity of Nomura's digital assets subsidiary, Laser Digital — announced Friday that it has completed its registration and is now authorized to operate as a Crypto Asset Exchange Service Provider under Japan's Payment Services Act, the licensing regime that requires exchanges in the country to keep customer assets segregated from their own funds. The registration marks the newest entry into Japan's crypto asset industry since 2022, after a four-year hiatus in new approvals.
Shiba Inu is among the six tokens to be handled first on the platform, alongside BTC, ETH, XRP, BCH, and LTC.
SHIB price
Shiba Inu staged one of its sharpest rallies of the summer on Saturday, with the price rising 26.4% from $0.00000492 to $0.00000622 and printing a massive daily candlestick.
The move built on a rebound from a low of $0.0000044 on August 19, amid a broad crypto market surge as traders assessed the fallout from a recent spike in bond yields and a new initiative aimed at fiscal consolidation. The broader rally escalated after a record squeeze forced bearish traders out of the market.
Shiba Inu rose for three days, surpassing resistance at the daily MA 50 at $0.00000451 (the 50-day moving average, a widely watched medium-term trend benchmark). The advance also pushed through the daily MA 200 — its long-term counterpart — for the first time since mid-September 2025. Shiba Inu reached a high of $0.00000623 on Saturday, where it met resistance and retreated.
The surge now faces a test as SHIB struggles to hold above $0.00000541, the daily MA 200. At the time of writing, SHIB was up 0.45% in the last 24 hours at $0.00000546 and up 23% for the week.
