Presley Gerber, the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford, died on Sunday at the age of 27. According to a report from the Los Angeles Medical Examiner, he died in a rehabilitation facility. The report did not provide a cause of death.

Mr. Gerber was the eldest child of Ms. Crawford, who rose to prominence in the late 1980s and 1990s as one of the defining supermodels of the era, and businessman Rande Gerber, co-founder of the Casamigos tequila brand. He followed his mother into modeling, with fashion work that included campaigns and runway appearances for brands such as Calvin Klein and Dolce & Gabbana, among the most recognizable names in the industry. In 2018, he appeared alongside his mother in Pepsi's commercial for Super Bowl LII, the N.F.L.'s championship game and one of the most-watched television events of the year in the United States.

He had previously spoken openly about his struggles with mental health. In an Instagram post in November last year, he said had started a series called "Mental Health Mondays," explaining that "the goal was to spark real conversations about the stuff most people hide." Public figures across entertainment and fashion have in recent years increasingly used social platforms to discuss mental health openly with their audiences.

In August, his sister Kaia Gerber, who is also a model, discussed her brother's struggles in an interview with Vogue magazine. "When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone," she said.
