- •Dacity Coin is the first solid sign of cryptocurrency appearing in GTA 6, whose predecessor Grand Theft Auto V ranks among the best-selling games ever with more than 200 million copies sold.

Two seconds of footage was all it took. When Rockstar Games released the Grand Theft Auto 6 launch trailer on Thursday, a brief shot showed "Dacity Coin" plastered along the side of a plane, as a man set off a neon pink flare on its wing. Within the hour, a real Solana meme coin of the same name had skyrocketed 2,900%, surging from a market capitalization of $104,000 to $3.18 million—and making some traders substantially richer.
The token had been lying in wait. It was created five days before the trailer dropped, after a notorious Rockstar hacker known as "Cyberleek" leaked GTA 6 gameplay revealing that Dacity Coin would appear in the game—but only a comparatively small group of traders noticed at the time.
Dacity Coin launched on October 11 via Solana launchpad Pump.fun, a self-service platform that lets users spin up tokens in seconds and has become known as the network's meme coin factory, hitting a peak market cap of $1.14 million before sliding to $144,700 over the following day. It then traded sideways until Thursday's sharp rise.

Because the coin existed days before the trailer aired, traders had ample time to buy in ahead of the spike. According to DEX Screener, 24 traders have each profited more than $10,000 on the token, with the top trader turning $1,912 into $44,000. Dacity now sits at a $1.5 million market cap, down roughly 53% from its $3.18 million peak.
The episode is also a case study in how meme coins—tokens built on jokes and cultural references rather than underlying products, and prone to violent swings in both directions—can turn a few seconds of mainstream screen time into millions of dollars of real trading.
What is Dacity?
In the launch trailer, the plane reads "DacityCoin AudaCity." In previously leaked footage, the game's protagonist, Lucia, can be seen skydiving while wearing an AudaCity parachute. According to leaked screenshots, the opened parachute carries the slogan "Quit your job. Sell your house. Move [ineligible]."
Per the GTA wiki, Lucia is asked to perform the parachute jump as a stunt to advertise the AudaCity brand and attract investment to Dacity Coin.
If accurate, the scene amounts to a satire of the stunts meme coin creators have staged to promote their tokens over the years—and fits the series' long-running habit of parodying real-world fads through fictional brands. In 2024, Decrypt reported that one man set himself on fire to promote his meme coin, while others smoked drugs on livestream, pretended to be a dog, or recklessly fired a pistol out of a window.
Any in-game reference now carries enormous reach: the series' previous entry, Grand Theft Auto V, ranks among the best-selling video games of all time, with more than 200 million copies sold. The cameo also lands amid years of rumors that cryptocurrency would feature in GTA 6. Past theories included play-to-earn features, NFT properties, and even an entire blockchain for the game—all unsubstantiated. Dacity Coin is the first solid sign of cryptocurrency appearing in the upcoming title.
How prominent Dacity Coin will be in the finished game is now the question on traders' lips. If it proves to be a recurring element of the game, attention on the token could persist; if not, its moment may pass. Rockstar has yet to say anything about Dacity Coin, and the studio did not respond to Decrypt's request for comment.
Déjà vu
The playbook is familiar. In February 2025, Fortnite added a fake crypto coin called Dill Bits, and degens quickly launched a real one on Solana. That token hit a $4.78 million market cap before crashing 96%. It pumped another 2,700% in April after Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney called it a scam—then dropped 82% within days.
I didn’t launch it. What is wrong with you people.
— Tim Sweeney (@TimSweeneyEpic) April 6, 2025
Sweeney posted the message as traders floated theories that he was secretly behind the coin. The Dill Bits community nonetheless took the episode as bullish, given that Fortnite's storyline centered on a pickle villain named Big Dill running a crypto rug pull. It didn't help much: DB dropped 82.3% in the days that followed.
Epic Games told Decrypt at the time that there was "no real cryptocurrency or memecoin associated with Fortnite or endorsed by Epic."
