PlayTime Entertainment and Summit Media Launch Joint Venture PT Summit to Build Publishing Technology

PlayTime Entertainment and Summit Media have established a joint venture called PT Summit to develop technology platforms for media companies, as publishers increasingly seek new tools to enhance digital products, audience analytics, and content monetization. The move reflects a broader industry pattern in which media companies are investing in proprietary technology infrastructure rather than relying solely on third-party platforms, a shift already underway at major publishers internationally that have built or licensed internal content management and audience intelligence systems to reduce dependency on external ad-tech and distribution platforms.

PT Summit is 60%-owned by PlayTime Entertainment and 40%-owned by Summit Media. The new entity will initially focus on building technology for media and content creators, with plans to later expand its platform to independent publishers, media networks, and other content businesses.

The partnership brings together PlayTime Entertainment's technology development capabilities and Summit Media's publishing operations. Summit Media, part of the Gokongwei-led business group, operates a portfolio of magazine and digital brands in the Philippines and will serve as the platform's first implementation partner.

"The initial rollout will allow PT Summit to deploy and refine its platform within an established media ecosystem, across brands with different audiences, content categories, and commercial needs," Summit Media Chairman Lisa Gokongwei-Cheng said during the partnership launch on Wednesday.

She noted that the collaboration is expected to strengthen Summit Media's product architecture, audience intelligence, marketing performance, content workflows, and monetization capabilities.

PT Summit will develop tools designed to help publishers enhance digital products, generate audience insights, and improve content creation and distribution.

PT Summit Chief Executive Officer Crisanto Roy B. Alcid said the company sees growing demand for technology solutions across the media and entertainment industry.

"We feel confident that, again, our tech teams can provide the backend technology needed by the media industry. If you look at gaming, it's similar," Mr. Alcid told reporters on the sidelines of the launch.

PlayTime Entertainment is a multi-vertical entertainment company with businesses spanning content, distribution, and technology-enabled audience engagement.

The company said PT Summit ultimately aims to offer its platform to independent publishers, media networks, and content businesses. If the platform reaches that broader market, it would position PT Summit alongside existing publishing technology providers that serve multiple media organizations — a competitive space that has grown as digital publishers seek unified tools for audience data, content management, and monetization under shifting platform and advertising conditions.
