Ediya Coffee Launches Alipay+ Promotion Offering Discounts for Foreign Customers

Ediya Coffee announced Friday that it is offering discounts to international customers through a new promotion with Alipay+, the cross-border digital payment platform operated by Ant International, as part of its efforts to enhance payment convenience for visitors to South Korea.

Under the promotion, customers using Alipay+ partner payment services can download a 20 percent discount coupon applicable to all menu items at Ediya Coffee locations. Alipay users are eligible for discounts of up to 15 yuan ($2.20) per transaction, with the offer redeemable up to three times.

Users of Alipay+ partner e-wallets — including AlipayHK in Hong Kong, MPay in Macau, TrueMoney in Thailand, Touch 'n Go eWallet in Malaysia, and GCash in the Philippines — can receive discounts of up to 5,000 won ($3.52) per transaction, redeemable up to five times.

Coupons can be obtained through the Alipay app or Alipay+ partner service applications, or by scanning QR codes displayed on promotional materials at participating Ediya Coffee stores. The promotion requires no additional eligibility steps.

The coffee chain has been steadily broadening its overseas payment infrastructure for foreign customers. In October of last year, Ediya Coffee added WeChat Pay, UnionPay, and Line Pay to its accepted payment methods. The push aligns with South Korea's broader efforts to improve payment accessibility for international visitors, as the country's tourism sector continues its recovery and the government promotes initiatives to reduce friction for foreign travelers.

"We have continued to introduce overseas payment services and expand customer benefits so that international visitors can enjoy greater convenience at Ediya Coffee," a company official said.

"We will continue enhancing customer satisfaction through various services that improve customer convenience," the official added.

The initiative comes as Ediya Coffee continues its international expansion, including a recent debut in Canada with a store in Toronto.
