Key Takeaways

  • •RippleX Head of Product Jazzi Cooper described using XRP as collateral for institutional credit as a potential 'killer use case' that would allow institutions to access working capital without selling their holdings.
  • •The XLS-65 and XLS-66 lending amendments are available in XRPL software but need a validator supermajority for two consecutive weeks before activation, and no funded vaults or completed loans currently exist on mainnet.
  • •The current XLS-66 design does not lock XRP against loans, with official documentation describing them as uncollateralized and underwriting handled off-chain.
  • •Evernorth has filed conditional plans with the SEC to use XLS-66 as a core treasury tool, while Clearpool's XRPL product is still labeled 'coming soon,' with its roughly $965 million in originated loans spanning seven existing networks rather than XRPL.
  • •Analyst Ali Martinez identifies $1.31-$1.35 as a support zone, $1.38 as the key breakout-confirmation level, and $1.60 as a potential target, with XRP near $1.34 yet to confirm any breakout.
XRP Nears Technical Breakout as XRPL Institutional Lending Plans Advance

XRP is trading near $1.34 as a potential institutional-credit use case develops around the XRP Ledger, while the token’s short-term technical structure remains unconfirmed.

RippleX Head of Product Jazzi Cooper has described using XRP as collateral for institutional credit as a “killer use case.” The concept would allow institutions to use XRP as working capital without selling the asset, extending its potential role beyond cross-border payments and into lending and collateral workflows.

However, the proposed XRPL lending infrastructure has not yet been activated on the XRP Ledger mainnet. XLS-65 and XLS-66 remain subject to validator approval before institutions can use their native functions. At the same time, analyst Ali Martinez has identified $1.31-$1.35 as a support zone, $1.38 as the key breakout-confirmation level, and $1.60 as a potential target if that resistance is decisively cleared.

XRP’s Institutional-Credit Use Case Remains Conditional

Cooper made her comments in response to discussion about institutions accessing credit without selling their XRP holdings. Her view frames XRP collateral as potentially productive capital rather than dormant treasury inventory.

NEW: Ripple REVEALS $3.1 TRILLION $XRP COLLATERAL Opportunity for Institutions — Evernorth CONFIRMED It Plans to Use It Ripple just highlighted $XRP as COLLATERAL for institutional CREDIT — meaning institutions could potentially put their $XRP to work to ACCESS CREDIT… pic.twitter.com/UlLEN85vLT — Diana (@InvestWithD) September 13, 2026

Ripple’s proposed lending architecture supports that broader objective, but its current mechanics require important distinctions. XLS-65 defines Single Asset Vaults, which pool a single asset and issue ownership shares. XLS-66 defines fixed-term loans, including interest, repayment schedules, fees, and defaults at the protocol level.

The current XRPL lending design does not automate collateral or liquidations onchain. Official documentation describes the loans as uncollateralized, with underwriting and risk management handled off-chain. Institutions could establish separate collateral agreements, but XLS-66 itself does not lock XRP against a loan.

Both base amendments are available in XRPL software but are not active on mainnet. They must receive a validator supermajority for at least two consecutive weeks before activation. LendingProtocolV1_1 is also under development and would add closed-ended vaults and cash-basis accounting.

As a result, there is currently no verified mainnet lending-volume catalyst from these features for XRP. Mainnet lending data also cannot yet connect the unactivated amendments to XRP price performance.

Evernorth has publicly stated that it intends to use XLS-66 as a core treasury tool. Its communication filed with the SEC describes the plan as conditional and warns that approval, operation, and projected yields are not guaranteed.

Clearpool describes its XRPL product as “coming soon.” Its website reports approximately $965 million in loans originated across seven existing networks. Those figures indicate experience across those networks, but they do not represent $1.8 billion in live loans already originated on the XRP Ledger.

RLUSD is another potential lending asset, with a market capitalization near $2.42 billion. Clearpool’s planned XRPL product specifically advertises real-world yield through RLUSD and native credit primitives. That proposal, however, does not establish current demand for XRP as collateral.

Social-media posts have also compared the potential opportunity with trillions of dollars in securities lending. S\u0026P Global reports average August balances of $4.2 trillion, above the older $3.1 trillion figure. Neither measure represents capital committed to XRP or XRPL lending.

Any institutional adoption of XRP collateral would require participating institutions to publish eligibility rules, haircuts, custody terms, and default procedures. The XRPL mainnet currently has no funded lending vaults or completed loans under XLS-66. The most relevant developments to monitor are validator approval and activation, followed by evidence of funded vaults, completed loans, and disclosed institutional risk terms.

Technical Levels Keep $1.38 and $1.60 in Focus

XRP is testing the $1.31-$1.35 support range identified by Martinez. With the token trading near $1.34, it remains inside that band and has not confirmed a breakout.

XRP BREAKOUT INCOMING!? As long as $XRP holds the $1.31–$1.35 support zone, I’m watching for price to push toward the triangle’s apex. The key confirmation comes at $1.38. A decisive break above that resistance could trigger the bullish breakout and open the door to $1.60. pic.twitter.com/16C0QcpVao — Ali Charts (@alicharts) September 13, 2026

Martinez identifies $1.38 as the decisive resistance level. A clean move above it could complete the triangle breakout and place $1.60 in focus. Until such a move occurs, the target remains conditional rather than a confirmed advance.

A separate weekly analysis identifies $1.55 as a larger resistance test. Crypto Patel said a weekly close above that level could expose $2, followed by the previous $3.66 high. If XRP fails to reclaim $1.55, attention could instead return to the $0.70-$0.95 demand area.

The institutional-credit narrative does not change those technical confirmation levels. XRP’s price structure still depends on holding support, breaking resistance, and attracting sustained spot demand. The proposed XRPL lending functions also require validator approval before usage data can show whether institutions adopt the infrastructure.
