XM Launches GOLD24-7 Product for Weekend Gold Trading

On Thursday, the trading and investment platform XM announced the launch of GOLD24-7, a new gold trading instrument that provides clients with access to gold markets seven days a week.

According to the broker, GOLD24-7 differs from standard gold contracts for difference (CFDs), which typically follow conventional market hours tied to global exchange schedules. The new instrument enables traders to continue buying and selling gold over the weekend, bridging the gap that traditionally leaves retail traders unable to react to events between Friday close and Monday open.

The launch forms part of XM's broader strategy to expand its product offering while adapting its trading experience to evolving market conditions and client needs.

"Markets don't stop generating news simply because it's the weekend," said Stavri Morti, co-chief executive at XM. "Economic data, geopolitical developments and breaking news can all influence market sentiment over the weekend. We introduced GOLD24-7 to give our clients greater flexibility to respond to those developments as they happen, instead of waiting until Monday."

The Cyprus-based firm stated that it has been a market leader in gold trading for more than 15 years. XM said this position was reinforced earlier this year amid historic volatility in the gold market, during which it provided uninterrupted trading and execution conditions, including zero requotes and no rejections.

Gold has long been one of the most heavily traded commodities in the retail CFD sector, serving as both a safe-haven asset and a hedge against inflation and currency fluctuations. Weekend trading access has become an area of growing interest among brokers seeking to differentiate their offerings in an increasingly competitive market. While some brokers have offered weekend trading on certain instruments such as major stock indices and cryptocurrencies, gold has remained largely confined to weekday sessions for most retail platforms.

XM, which is regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) under the EU's MiFID II framework, operates across multiple jurisdictions and serves clients in over 190 countries. The company stated that GOLD24-7 builds on its existing approach by extending gold trading across the full week. The instrument is now available to all XM clients.
