Western Alliance Bank Launches WA VenueX Institutional Liquidity Platform for Digital Asset Businesses

Western Alliance Bank, a national commercial bank with more than $90 billion in assets, has formally launched WA VenueX, an institutional financial platform designed to provide real-time U.S. dollar liquidity and support digital asset activity within a regulated banking environment.

Built for a 24/7 financial economy, WA VenueX includes WA VenueX Network, Western Alliance Bank’s around-the-clock U.S. dollar (USD) instant settlement network for approved institutional digital asset businesses. Since its initial rollout earlier this year, WA VenueX has processed billions of dollars in transaction volume across stablecoin minting and redemption, institutional digital asset settlement and real-time liquidity rebalancing.

The launch places Western Alliance Bank among a select group of regulated U.S. financial institutions offering always-on infrastructure for institutional digital asset markets. For firms that operate across crypto venues, stablecoin systems and global trading desks, access to bank-based dollar settlement outside standard business hours can reduce reliance on delayed funding windows while keeping activity within a banking relationship. The bank said additional WA VenueX capabilities are in development, including digital asset custody, financing, tokenization and programmable financial services. Those services are expected to be introduced in phases over the coming months.

Dale Gibbons, Western Alliance Vice Chairman and Chief Banking Officer, Deposit Initiatives & Innovation, said, “Western Alliance Bank is always looking for innovative ways to better serve our clients while advancing the S-curve funding growth strategy we outlined at our Investor Day in May. WA VenueX reflects that approach by delivering scalable, compliant financial infrastructure designed for digital asset businesses that operate around the clock. In addition to providing real-time U.S. dollar liquidity, WA VenueX supports our ongoing deposit remixing efforts, contributing to a more diversified and durable source of funding while further strengthening our position as a leading banking partner to the digital asset industry.”

David Fragale, Senior Managing Director, Digital Assets Group at Western Alliance Bank, said the platform combines live settlement functionality with a broader development roadmap.

“WA VenueX brings together real-time USD settlement and a roadmap toward integrated digital asset capabilities within a single platform,” Fragale said. “With WA VenueX Network live and already processing billions in transaction volume, clients currently access always-on USD liquidity and can prepare for broader digital asset workflows as the platform evolves. Ultimately, WA VenueX will be a one-stop hub inside the bank for the digital assets ecosystem.”

Global financial markets increasingly operate continuously, while many traditional banking processes still rely on cutoffs, batch processing and business-day settlement windows. Western Alliance said WA VenueX Network is intended to address that gap by enabling continuous, real-time U.S. dollar settlement through the bank. The network allows participants to move capital without interruption and align liquidity with global market activity.

Client Use of WA VenueX

Coinbase is among the institutions using WA VenueX as part of its operating model.

“Coinbase is proud to work with Western Alliance and leverage WA VenueX as part of our 24/7 operating model. Reliable, around-the-clock access to U.S. dollar liquidity is critical for institutional participants, and WA VenueX delivers that capability within a trusted banking framework. We believe platforms like WA VenueX will play a foundational role in the continued growth of the digital asset ecosystem, and we look forward to contributing to a more connected, efficient and always-on financial system.”

Expansion Toward a Unified Institutional Platform

WA VenueX is designed to expand beyond real-time settlement into a broader platform that integrates digital asset custody, financing and tokenization within a single banking environment. As these capabilities are introduced, Western Alliance said WA VenueX is intended to help firms manage liquidity and deploy capital across fiat and digital asset markets through a unified, always-on system.

Planned capabilities include support for stablecoin-related workflows, digital asset-backed financing and tokenized asset structures. The bank also cited programmable financial services as part of the platform’s development roadmap. The phased rollout will be a key area to watch because custody, financing and tokenization each involve distinct operational, compliance and risk-management requirements for banks serving institutional digital asset clients.

Institutional Scale and Availability

Western Alliance is introducing WA VenueX with nearly five years of digital asset banking experience and approximately 150 institutional clients, including stablecoin issuers, exchanges and trading firms.

As adoption increases, Western Alliance said WA VenueX Network is expected to benefit from greater liquidity and connectivity across participants. The network is currently available to select Digital Assets clients, while broader platform capabilities are expected to roll out over time. Integration is supported through an API via Western Alliance Bank’s Digital Asset Banking team.
