Vantage Bank has announced the appointment of Layne E. Nunes as Executive Vice President and Chief Treasury & Network Banking Officer. In the newly created position, Nunes will oversee the bank's new Treasury & Network Banking Division and provide strategic leadership across Treasury Management, Treasury Operations, Network Banking, and related customer-focused services.
Nunes brings more than 30 years of experience in commercial banking, treasury management, sales leadership, and portfolio growth to the role. In his new capacity, he will help businesses across the region access the financial tools they need to grow with confidence, according to the announcement from Vantage Bank. Vantage Bank is a community bank headquartered in San Antonio, Texas.
Nunes joins Vantage Bank from a large regional bank in Dallas, where he served as Treasury Management Director and Executive Vice President. In that position, he led the Treasury Management and Specialty Deposits divisions and worked closely with commercial, commercial specialty, and retail banking teams. Under his leadership over the past six years, the division grew its portfolio to more than $22 million in non-interest income, achieving a compounded growth rate exceeding 18 percent on a deposit book totaling several billion dollars. Treasury management — the cash management, payments, liquidity, and deposit services banks provide to business clients — is a fee-based business line that banks of all sizes cultivate because non-interest income diversifies revenue beyond lending spreads. He also served on the bank's Executive Management, ALCO (Asset-Liability Committee), and IT Steering Committees, contributed to its AI working group, and helped guide deposit strategy and rate management.
Over the course of his career, Nunes has worked at large national financial institutions as well as regional and community banks, serving corporate, commercial, energy, and commercial real estate clients. He has built partnerships that delivered measurable savings for organizations ranging from the middle market to the largest enterprises. Recognized repeatedly for sales excellence, Nunes has spent his career helping businesses manage capital with confidence and plan for what's ahead.
Vantage CEO Jeff Sinnott said: “We're thrilled to welcome Layne to the Vantage team. His track record in treasury management speaks for itself, and his talent for helping clients manage capital smarter fits perfectly with how we serve businesses. Layne puts customers first, just like we do, and we can't wait to build what's next together.”
“I'm honored to join Vantage Bank and to help our clients navigate today's financial landscape with clarity and confidence,” said Nunes. “Businesses need a partner who understands both the challenges and the opportunities in front of them. I look forward to building strong relationships and delivering solutions that support real, lasting growth.”
Nunes holds a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and History from Houston Baptist University and is completing an MBA at Dallas Baptist University.
In his new role at Vantage Bank, Nunes will focus on strengthening treasury management services, expanding commercial banking relationships, and helping small and medium-sized businesses manage cash flow, protect capital, and plan for what's ahead. The creation of both the division and the role marks a deliberate build-out of the bank's business-facing services, and how the new division's treasury and cash-management offerings roll out to regional businesses will be a key area to watch.
