T’way Air is bringing its new identity to the skies ahead of next week’s official rebrand, unveiling its first Boeing 737-8 painted in Trinity Airways’ updated brand colors.
The airline said Thursday that it introduced the aircraft at Gimpo International Airport, where employees and cabin crew dressed in Trinity Airways uniforms gathered to mark the occasion.
The aircraft is scheduled to operate its first flight under the new brand on Sept. 10, serving the Gimpo-Jeju route as T’way Air begins flying as Trinity Airways.
The rebrand marks a significant milestone for the South Korean low-cost carrier, which in recent years expanded into long-haul flying as part of competition-related commitments tied to the Korean Air–Asiana Airlines merger, taking over routes that Asiana was required to give up, including services to European destinations. The transition to Trinity Airways signals the next phase of that expanded operating footprint.
Trinity Airways’ new corporate identity and brand design have been applied to the Boeing 737-8, which is equipped with CFM International’s LEAP-1B engines and is designed to improve fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions compared with earlier aircraft in its class.
Additional aircraft featuring the new livery will be introduced in stages, while existing aircraft will also be repainted as part of the transition, T’way Air said.
During the changeover, aircraft will carry the Trinity Airways name to help passengers adjust to the new brand and minimize confusion.
According to an official announcement from the airline, its flight code, TW, and flight numbers will remain unchanged after the name change — a detail that matters for booking systems, codeshare partners and passengers with existing reservations, since flight codes are embedded in tickets and itinerary records worldwide.
Trinity Airways will also replace T’way Air branding across its website and app starting Sept. 10.
T’way Air said it plans to keep introducing next-generation aircraft, including Airbus A330-900neo wide-body jets and additional Boeing 737-8s, as it develops its new operating strategy. The mix of narrow-body and wide-body deliveries points to a fleet plan spanning both domestic and short-haul regional routes and the longer-haul sectors the carrier has added.
A T’way Air official said the rollout of the first aircraft in the new livery demonstrates that preparations for the transition are progressing as planned. The official added that the airline would work to give customers opportunities to experience Trinity Airways across different points of contact, beginning with the launch on Thursday.
