The most recent example comes from an MS NOW interview, in which a voter who cast his ballot for Trump three times explained why he no longer supports him.
“We've got to stop these wars,” the voter told MS NOW. “It costs time, money, and lives. So that's all.”
Asked whether he was disappointed in Trump, he answered yes.
“Definitely, I thought he was the man,” the voter said. “Then I think we watched some Netflix story, and a guy had a wedding for Marla Maples and put it on a credit card — never paid the bill. I'm like, ‘This is our guy? He's leaving people worse off — he's robbed more people than anyone.’ So yeah, I'm not a fan of his anymore.”
He added: “I thought he was for real, but now I see the people he puts in office and they're all his buddies. That's all I can say about that. I'm not voting for him again. But he's old anyway. There should be term limits on these guys, or age limits. I retired at 55 because I was too old to do my job. You can't run a country at 80, in my opinion. That's just my opinion, though.”
Asked directly whether he regretted voting for Trump, the voter replied, “Definitely.”
“Who do we have?” he continued. “We can't have the one-percenters running everything — the money they have, the power, they just own everything. They own all the homes, all the businesses. What does that leave us? I know young people with pensions and retirement plans who still have to work until their last day. It's unfair. And he's not making it any easier for us, I don't think.”
A second voter interviewed by MS NOW said she has seen a growing number of Republicans turn on Trump, reflecting a broader strain of frustration that can surface when longtime supporters feel party loyalty no longer matches day-to-day economic pressures.
“I see a lot of Republicans I know, people I talk to, who are starting to lean toward the middle — like, neither party is good,” she told MS NOW. “We need a third party.
