Taurus Adopts Hedera Stack as HBAR Expands Institutional Push
Key Takeaways
- •Taurus now supports Hedera’s full technology stack, including custody, staking, tokenization and smart contracts, within a single platform.
- •The platform enables services such as digital asset custody, native token issuance through Hedera Token Service and smart contract deployment through Hedera’s EVM-compatible service.
- •Taurus serves more than 40 banks, including Deutsche Bank and State Street.
- •The expansion comes as banks look for tokenization workflows that align with MiCA requirements in Europe.
- •Hedera has processed more than 70 billion transactions and is governed by a council that includes Google, IBM, Deutsche Telekom, Standard Bank, Accenture and FedEx.

Taurus, the Swiss-based blockchain infrastructure provider for major banks and institutional investors, has expanded its work with Hedera. The custody provider now supports Hedera’s full technology stack, allowing customers to access services powered by HBAR, from digital asset custody to the issuance of tokenized products, through a single provider.
Swiss Infrastructure Provider Expands Support for Hedera
Taurus is a Swiss fintech startup that, despite being only 18 months old, has already secured several notable clients. These include Deutsche Bank, one of Germany’s largest and most established banks, as well as State Street, the U.S. custody and financial management giant that oversees roughly $5.4 trillion in assets.
According to The Hashgraph Association, Taurus now supports the full @hedera stack, covering custody, staking, tokenization and smart contracts within one platform. The association said the platform was built over 18 months and serves more than 40 banks, including Deutsche Bank and State Street. With MiCA now in force, banks are seeking providers that can cover the full tokenization workflow, from custody to issuance and smart contract execution. Taurus’ platform, combined with Hedera Hashgraph’s distributed ledger technology, is designed to do that across several areas, including:
- secure digital asset custody, staking and node infrastructure
- native crypto token issuance through the Hedera Token Service (HTS)
- smart contract deployment through Hedera’s EVM-compatible Smart Contract Service
The project was actively funded by the Swiss-based Hashgraph Association, a nonprofit organization focused on expanding adoption of the HBAR network. Kamal Youssefi, president of The Hashgraph Association, said:
“With the MICA regulatory framework taking effect in Europe, alongside the progress in the USA with the Clarity Act, institutional investors and highly regulated financial institutions can now enter the Web3 space with ease and confidence, thanks to the full integration of the Hedera technology stack into Taurus’s crypto infrastructure solutions.”
The Hedera stack on Taurus also adds capabilities for builders developing blockchain-linked banking infrastructure, giving them a regulated custody and infrastructure path to deploy those services. Stablecoin issuers, tokenization engines and hedge fund administrators can now run on HBAR through Taurus custody.
Hedera has already recorded more than 70 billion transactions, and the network’s low-cost design was cited as part of the appeal. Another factor is Hedera’s governance structure: the network is overseen by a council that includes Google, IBM, Deutsche Telekom and Standard Bank, as well as Accenture and FedEx, which joined this year.
