Syntetika, a tokenization hub for regulated investment strategies, has opened deposits for its first product: hBTC, the vault token representing the BTC Basis+ strategy managed by the publicly traded Hilbert Group. The launch adds to the broader trend of real-world asset (RWA) tokenization projects bringing regulated financial products onchain.
The platform is designed to make investment strategies operating inside regulated funds directly accessible from a crypto wallet. Each underlying fund maintains independent custody, and its net asset value (NAV) is attested by an independent third party at every processing cycle. Vault tokens are issued and redeemed at that attested NAV. Having a publicly traded asset manager like Hilbert Group behind the strategy means the manager itself is subject to public reporting and shareholder disclosure obligations.
BTC Basis+ is a Bitcoin basis strategy that holds Bitcoin exposure while capturing the funding spread between spot and futures markets, with returns denominated in Bitcoin. Basis trading — profiting from the spread between spot prices and futures prices — has become one of the most prominent arbitrage approaches in crypto markets, particularly as institutional participation has deepened liquidity in both spot and derivatives venues. Participants deposit cbBTC through the Syntetika platform on a permissionless basis. Deposits are queued and subscribed into the fund at the next processing cycle, at which point hBTC is minted at the attested NAV. Redemptions follow the same cycle.
Syntetika is launching on Base, Coinbase's Layer 2 network, with several partners: Tulipa Capital handles strategy curation, Ember Protocol provides vault infrastructure, and Yield Network serves as Liquidity Syndication Partner. Reserves backing the platform's tokens will be verifiable by anyone through Chainlink Proof of Reserve, an onchain oracle system widely used across tokenization projects for reserve verification.
"Today Syntetika opens its doors with BTC Basis+," said Jorge Cuartero, CEO of Syntetika. "What we are really launching is the platform underneath it: infrastructure built to carry a growing set of regulated strategies onchain. This is day one of that roadmap."
Deposits for BTC Basis+ are now open at syntetika.io.
