Like many readers, I am still grieving Dolly Parton’s death. Even so, I am coming in hot this morning, because too many on the left still refuse to do so, and our useless mainstream media has once again shown that it is little more than a reactive body that lacks common sense and cannot recognize big trouble, much less report it properly.
On Monday, our radical right Supreme Court — by far the most dangerous court in American history — moved this country one step closer to a corrupt monarchy when it refused to block what the author describes as Donald Trump’s anti-American bid to destroy mail-in voting in the United States.
Only a week earlier, the U.S. Postal Service, acting under Trump’s orders, laid out how it would help carry out his plan to all but end democracy for good.
Are you reading this?
According to the author, the worst part of Monday was not only the Supreme Court’s action, but the reaction to it from too many people on the left and in the media — or, in some cases, the lack of any reaction at all.
Almost immediately, the author says, tone-deaf and foolish advice began pouring in from too many so-called legal experts who were telling people not to overreact to the Supreme Court’s decision.
“Nothing is final here! The states will have the last word on this! It’s unclear whether this can even be implemented in time! No reason to overreact!”
The author calls that reaction completely insane.
Trump, the piece argues, is attempting to take another life in plain sight, and the country must wait to see whether his court allows him to complete the killing.
“We are hanging by a thread in America,” the author writes, “and it is impossible to overreact to that kind of danger.”
This, the piece says, is an emergency.
The author asks who can still believe John Roberts’ lawless court is acting in the best interests of the public rather than the ultra-wealthy who, in the author’s view, clearly own it. The article also asks what part of the truth people do not understand: that the November elections are the last best chance to save the country.
The president of the United States, the piece says, is using every power available to him to attack those elections so that he can enjoy unfettered rule. The Supreme Court could have rejected him on Monday, or at least ignored him, but did not.
At minimum, the author says, the Court has left many people anxious and overwhelmed. The fascist attack, as the piece describes it, is arriving like a fire hose, and it is only beginning.
The only way Republicans win these elections, the article argues, is by attacking the vote rather than honoring it.
The author says that should be the biggest story in history and should be covered around the clock. Instead, it receives only occasional mention before the news cycle moves on. Meanwhile, the author adds, some people on the left are trying to make names for themselves by telling everyone to calm down.
The piece then recalls earlier claims that Merrick Garland had a plan to deal with Trump after his January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. According to the author, people were told Garland was a legal mastermind who would eventually checkmate Trump forever.
The author rejects that view, saying that while critics warned about Garland’s inaction, Trump was allowed to remain in power, was “crowned,” and Garland has now vanished from public view.
The article says the author has had enough of all these “legal experts,” and enough of the idea that America is a place of law and order when crooks are running everything. It says the most dishonest person in the country — a convicted felon — is destroying the White House, while an endless supply of lawyers, including the Supreme Court, backs him up.
The author also says that over the weekend, Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries secretly met with Jared Kushner in the White House to discuss unknown matters, and that people are again being told not to overreact.
“Nothing to see here,” the article says.
The author argues that if Jeffries’ meeting with Kushner is supposed to be normal, then the public should have been alerted in advance. The piece asks why Jeffries did not tell constituents he was meeting with Kushner, whom the author describes as a reprehensible figure associated with other powerful men who have used bone saws against American journalists.
According to the article, Jeffries should never have met with Kushner, and the fact that the meeting was kept secret shows he knew it was inappropriate.
When the meeting became public, Jeffries was forced to address it on Monday and posted on social media that Kushner contacted him first, which the author says does not matter.
The only answer Jeffries should have given to the proposed meeting, the piece says, was: “SHOVE IT, SONNY.”
The article says the leadership of the Democratic Party is not fighting and still looks, by word and deed, like appeasement, while remaining out of touch with voters.
Then there is what the author calls the war on Canada.
The piece says it can no longer take any more of this, and that readers should not have to either. It says things are as bad as they seem, and everyone should accept that.
The author writes that the United States is in a Cold War that is heating up by the minute. Republicans have drawn a battle line with the elections, the article says, and are prepared to beat them to death with their bare hands and then refuse to honor them if they do not get the outcome they want.
The piece adds that Republicans have already done this once, pointing to the January 6 attack and saying they were ready to hang their own vice president and burn the Capitol to the ground.
The author asks whether that came up in Jeffries’ meeting.
The article then offers an incomplete list of what Republicans are attacking in America right now, in addition to the vote, while people are told not to overreact:
- Our country
- Our women
- Our disabled
- Our military
- Our allies
- Our animals
- Our air
- Our water
- Our healthcare
- Our vaccines
- Our museums
- Our books
- Our schools
- Our government
- Our rule of law
The only things that Trump and his party have not attacked, the article says, are violent dictators and high prices.
The piece ends by saying people should quit accepting this and refuse to be gaslighted. If readers are not furious and scared, the author says, something is wrong.
At a minimum, the article says, people should be on the phone with their representatives — including Hakeem Jeffries and Senator Chuck Schumer — and make clear that appeasing a violent fascist and his inhumane party must be off-limits in America. The same applies to Republican and Democratic lawmakers alike.
The author also says people should remember that they are not alone.
There are millions of people across the country, the piece says, who feel the same fear and rage and can see what Trump, his party, and the court are doing. Hundreds of thousands more are turning their words into action by knocking on doors, making calls, working in food pantries, volunteering at clinics, writing letters, protesting on street corners, and continuing to fight.
They know how bad things are, the author says, and they need the people they elected to stand up for them to recognize that reality too.
Is that too much to ask?
