Decentralized perpetual futures exchange StandX is winding down its trading and stablecoin operations, abandoning plans for a native token and announcing a one-time DUSD airdrop for eligible community members.
The shutdown announcement, posted on X on October 15, follows a strategic review of the platform's business and prevailing market conditions. StandX will gradually close trading, yield programs and withdrawals, with the final operational deadline set for January 31, 2027.
The platform has served more than 237,000 users since launching its mainnet in November 2025, offering perpetual futures trading across BNB Chain and Solana alongside a yield-bearing stablecoin. Rather than proceed with a speculative token launch, StandX will distribute its remaining project revenue, along with additional contributions from the team, through its existing DUSD stablecoin.
DUSD Airdrop Opens November 1 With No Lockups
Airdrop allocations will be based on historical user participation, including pre-deposits, Alpha activity, mainnet trading, market making and referrals. An eligibility checker opens on October 26 at 00:00 UTC, allowing participants to review their allocations before claiming begins.
Eligible wallets can claim DUSD from November 1 at 00:00 UTC until December 31 at 08:00 UTC. Allocations will be distributed with no vesting schedules or lockup restrictions. The team will also screen participation for Sybil activity and wash trading, and unclaimed allocations will be forfeited after the deadline.
StandX co-founder AG.stand explained the decision to abandon the token launch, arguing that issuing a token without a sustainable long-term business would shift the costs of short-term speculation onto the community.
The project previously exceeded $200 million in total value locked without external venture capital backing but fell short of its goal of becoming one of the industry's three largest perpetual trading platforms.
Reduce-Only Mode Begins October 20
The wind-down began on October 15, when StandX ended DUSD yield distributions, position yields, community maker rewards and referral commissions, and suspended new vault deposits.
Perpetual futures trading will continue until October 20, when the exchange switches to reduce-only mode. Traders will then be able to decrease or close existing positions but cannot increase their exposure. New user registrations and DUSD minting will also stop on October 20.
All positions remaining open on January 15, 2027, will be automatically closed at the prevailing mark price, and vault positions will undergo final settlement the same day. Users must subsequently transfer remaining balances from their Perps wallets to Cash wallets before withdrawing assets onchain.
DUSD Withdrawals and Redemptions End January 31
StandX will permanently discontinue DUSD redemptions and withdrawals on January 31, 2027. The protocol will also withdraw its DUSD liquidity from PancakeSwap and Raydium, removing the liquidity it provides on those decentralized exchanges.
StandX maintains that DUSD remains fully collateralized and that customer funds are safe throughout the wind-down.
The closure follows other departures from the decentralized derivatives market. Satori Finance ended operations in July after weak revenue, while Pingu Exchange shut down after its expansion to Monad failed to generate sufficient trading activity.
StandX users face separate deadlines for the airdrop and platform balances: they have until December 31 to claim DUSD allocations, while DUSD redemptions and withdrawals remain available until January 31, 2027. The staged closure also means users with open positions or funds in Perps wallets must complete the specified position settlement and wallet-transfer steps before the final withdrawal deadline.
