Solana Labs' Leap Launches Mobile App for Trading Tokenized Stocks and Crypto

Leap, a new company under Solana Labs, launched a public beta of its mobile trading app on Thursday, letting users trade tokenized stocks, ETFs, metals, currencies, and crypto in one place around the clock, subject to regional restrictions. The app curates market-moving news directly on price charts, tracks detailed profit and loss, and routes trades through Jupiter. The lineup places assets that trade only during exchange hours alongside crypto markets, which run continuously.

Solana Labs is betting that the network's next wave of traders wants more than meme coins. The company is pitching Leap as an alternative to fast-paced meme coin trading, aimed at people who want to make better-informed decisions over the long term. The launch is an effort to broaden Solana's consumer appeal beyond that high-churn segment.

The app is available in early access on iPhone through Apple's public TestFlight program, with an Android version coming soon. Early access is currently being distributed through a waitlist. It is not available in the United Kingdom or other restricted regions. Early reach is limited by the waitlist for now, and the promised Android version would broaden it beyond iPhone.

Its research team curates market-moving news and pins each story to the price chart at the moment it broke. The app tracks profit and loss across every deposit, withdrawal, trade, and fee, including each position's breakeven price, giving users a consolidated view of their performance. Users enter an amount in dollars, and each trade executes as an onchain swap.

Leap is built by the team behind Dialect, which Solana Labs acquired earlier this year. Dialect developed Solana Actions and Blinks, a protocol that turns blockchain transactions into shareable links, which launched in 2024, as well as the cashtags feature on X.

On the technical side, Leap uses Jupiter for trade routing, Helius for infrastructure, and Birdeye for market data.

"The Solana blockchain now confirms a trade in about 150 milliseconds thanks to Alpenglow, so the network is now faster than ever," said Chris Osborn, Leap's general manager and Dialect's founder. Alpenglow is a consensus overhaul designed to sharply cut Solana's confirmation times.

"Every app that brings new people onchain makes the whole ecosystem stronger," said Solana Labs co-founder and CEO Anatoly Yakovenko.

Leap is not charging its own fees at launch, though network and routing costs still apply. The company plans to use future fees to buy and burn SOL, the native token of the Solana network, permanently removing tokens from circulation, and to fund a referral program. If carried out, the buy-and-burn mechanism would tie app activity directly to SOL's circulating supply. Early waitlist members, dubbed the Founders Club, would earn 30% of the trading fees generated by users they invite and 5% from those users' own referrals.

Leap arrives as tokenized stocks gain traction on Solana and beyond. Securitize has brought tokenized Nvidia, Apple, and Amazon shares to Solana. The trend has also met pushback: 56 companies have objected to having their shares traded on the planned tokenized stock venue from OKX and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), underscoring that issuer consent remains an open question for tokenized equities as more venues take shape.
