The Seoul Facilities Corp., a public corporation affiliated with the Seoul Metropolitan Government that manages major city infrastructure, announced Friday a wide-ranging series of summer events for residents, scheduled to run from Aug. 8 through Aug. 23. The program spans underground busking performances, an outdoor movie night at Gocheok Sky Dome, and free water play activities for children — all offered at no cost as part of the city's broader effort to expand public access to cultural and recreational programming during peak summer months.

Underground Performances and Art Exhibitions

At the Jamsil underground shopping center, musicians from independent label Fever Lab will perform on Aug. 8, with one set beginning at 1 p.m. and another at 4 p.m.

Performance spaces at the Jamsil and Hoehyeon underground shopping centers are available to book free of charge on the second Saturday of each month through the city's public reservation site at yeyak.seoul.go.kr. The program reflects an ongoing initiative to repurpose the city's underground commercial corridors as accessible cultural venues.

Two gallery spaces near Euljiro will host public-interest exhibitions during the same period. One exhibition will showcase art therapy works created by dementia patients from Seoul Seobuk Hospital.

Outdoor Movie Night at Gocheok Sky Dome

On Aug. 14, the corporation will hold its fourth annual outdoor movie night at Gocheok Sky Dome, Korea's first domed baseball stadium and home venue of the Kiwoom Heroes of the KBO League. Themed "Dome on a Summer Night," the free event runs from 6 to 10 p.m. and is organized in partnership with the Seoul Art Book Repository.

Visitors will have access to the stadium's field and locker rooms, along with a pop-up outdoor library. A film music band and a circus performance will precede a screening of the animated film "Niko: Beyond the Northern Lights," which will be shown on the stadium's video board.

Children's Programs at Seoul Children's Grand Park

At Seoul Children's Grand Park, one of Seoul's largest family-oriented public parks, the Water Garden play area — featuring a floor fountain and a stream-style wading pool — will operate free of charge through Aug. 23. Hours are 1 to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays. The facility will be closed on Mondays.

The park is also running an Animal School program covering wildlife facts through Aug. 15, designed for children ages 7 through elementary school. Eco-education classes include a Korean flag-making session on Aug. 15 and handkerchief dyeing on Aug. 16.

Additionally, a separate water play event featuring mist tunnels, slides, and water gun games will take place Aug. 8 at the park's artificial turf field.
