Robinhood used its HOOD Summit in Houston on Tuesday night to announce more new products at once than it has in years: crypto perpetual futures, weekend stock trading, AI agents that place trades, contracts on company earnings, longer options hours, expanded intraday margin, and a social trading app. Nearly all of it is aimed at one group: active traders. Read together, the slate sketches a platform built for people who move between stocks and crypto rather than treating them as separate audiences.
Perpetual Futures Come to U.S. Customers
Bitcoin and ether contracts will offer up to 10x leverage, with other assets starting at 3x, delivered through Robinhood Derivatives and Bitstamp (not Lighter). Perpetual futures — leveraged contracts with no expiry date — have long been the workhorse of crypto leverage trading on offshore exchanges, which U.S. customers have mostly had to access through overseas platforms. Robinhood's head of U.S. futures products said traders want leverage, but the company chose to start safer on smaller coins.
Stock Trading Goes 24-7
Robinhood launched round-the-clock trading in 2023, but it still stopped on weekends. Now a selection of stocks and ETFs will trade around the clock, including Saturdays and Sundays, through an alternative venue called Bruce ATS — closing the last gap between stock and crypto trading schedules. Alternative trading systems match orders outside the primary exchanges, which is what makes weekend sessions possible. For active traders, weekend developments can be met with equity orders in real time rather than waiting for Monday's open.
AI Agents That Trade for You
Users can create an agent inside the app, pick a model from OpenAI or Anthropic, and give it its own trading account to research markets and place trades. A feature called Loops lets users set standing instructions the agent acts on its own when conditions are met. More than 150,000 agent accounts already exist, dating back to when Robinhood opened its systems to outside AI earlier this year — an adoption base built before Tuesday's formal unveiling. The separate-account structure keeps agent activity distinct from a user's main portfolio.
Earnings Contracts via Cboe
Through Cboe, users will be able to trade on whether a company hits a specific number — revenue, earnings per share, or, in Apple's case, iPhone sales. The event-style format turns a single reported metric into a tradable outcome, the same mechanics that power prediction markets.
Robinhood Social Goes Live
Robinhood announced that its Robinhood Social app is now live inside the company's main app, throwing its hat into the ring alongside Fomo and Pump in the hottest new niche in onchain trading. Robinhood's product vice president described the destination as a single account where users can sell stocks, buy crypto, sell crypto, and trade prediction markets without thinking about which one they are in. It is, by that description, the definition of the "everything app." Which of these products becomes Robinhood's breakout remains to be seen.
