In China, the phone starts at CNY 999 for the 4GB/128GB model and CNY 1,199 for the 6GB/128GB model as promotional prices; the regular list prices are CNY 1,099 and CNY 1,299.

Globally, the phone starts at $249 for the 4GB/128GB model. In Malaysia, early buyers can get the 4GB/128GB version for MYR 769 and the 4GB/256GB version for MYR 869.

In India, the Redmi 17 5G costs ₹23,999 for 6GB/128GB and ₹26,999 for 8GB/128GB. The 8GB model also supports memory extension up to 16GB.

Nigeria and Ghana are still awaiting an official launch. What is currently listed on Jiji Nigeria is the 4G Redmi 17, selling for between ₦204,000 and ₦315,000 depending on storage. Should you buy the Redmi 17 5G?

The phone makes the most sense for buyers who prioritize battery life. The 7,500mAh global battery and the 7,900mAh India battery, paired with 45W charging, beat most phones in this price range. Buyers also get a 3.5mm jack, expandable storage, and an IP64 rating for dust and splash protection.

It may be worth skipping for those who care more about screen sharpness or camera flexibility. The HD+ display and modest camera setup are not the strongest in this price bracket, and the older Redmi 15 5G actually had a sharper screen.

Buyers should confirm which version they are getting before purchasing. The China model runs weaker hardware across the board, so it should not be expected to match the experience of the global or India versions.

In Nigeria or Ghana, waiting is advisable for now. The 5G version has not launched officially in either market, and most units available are grey market 4G imports at frequently shifting prices.
