Singapore-based Pacific International Lines (PIL), one of the largest container ship operators in Asia, is seeking to hire a Senior Executive for Marine Fuel Services at its Singapore headquarters.

The role underscores how fuel procurement remains a critical operational function for container lines, with bunkering typically ranking among the largest cost centers for shipping companies alongside vessel chartering and crew expenses. As fuel price volatility and evolving environmental regulations continue to shape maritime operations, shipping lines have placed growing emphasis on data-driven fuel management and procurement expertise.

According to a job advertisement posted on LinkedIn, the company is looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

• Diploma in Supply Chain or Marine Engineering, combined with at least five years of maritime experience; or
• Marine Engineering Certificate of Competency (CoC) Class 5 or above, combined with shipboard bunkering experience

Additional requirements include:

• Strong Excel modelling and data analysis capabilities
• Basic proficiency in MS Word and PowerPoint
• Procurement and supply chain knowledge
• Good MS Office skills, including Outlook and Excel
• Basic power automation and data analytics skills (considered an advantage)
