Paulig Creates Dedicated Coffee Business Area in Major Restructure

International food and beverage group Paulig is set to reorganise its corporate structure to introduce a dedicated 'Coffee' business area.

The Finnish company currently operates two business areas, 'Branded' and 'Customer'. Once the change takes place, the structure will comprise three units: 'Branded Foods', 'Customer Brands', and 'Coffee'.

Coffee has long been a cornerstone of Paulig's business, with the company ranking among the leading coffee roasters in the Nordics and its coffee products sold across European markets. Elevating coffee to a standalone business area gives the category its own leadership and strategic focus alongside the group's branded foods and customer brands operations, which include brands such as Santa Maria in spices and seasonings.

Rolf Ladau, CEO of Paulig, says the reorganisation will help the company adapt to the current food and beverage market.

"It is critical for us to remain competitive and deliver on our growth strategy and profitability. The planned changes will strengthen our ability to focus on our core businesses, improve how we operate, and ensure we are well positioned for success," says Ladau.

Paulig currently employs around 2700 people across 13 European countries. According to the company, up to 110 office or managerial positions in various countries may be affected by the structural change, with a maximum of 55 of those resulting in redundancies.

Consultation processes will be initiated in the relevant countries in accordance with local legislation. The new organisation is planned to take effect by 1 January 2027 at the latest.

The leadership team will also see changes. Lenita Ingelin, currently SVP for the Branded Business Area, will become SVP of the Branded Foods Business Area. Current CMO Mariell Toiger will be named SVP of the Coffee Business Area, while Kati Nurminen, currently Director, Brand and Portfolio, will step into the CMO role.

The remaining members of the leadership team will stay in their current roles.
