Ondo Finance Considers Acquisition Worth Up to $500 Million
The tokenized-assets firm is weighing a deal valued between $250 million and $500 million as consolidation accelerates across crypto infrastructure.
Ondo Finance, a New York-based tokenized real-world asset specialist, is evaluating a potential acquisition valued between $250 million and $500 million, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.
The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the matter is private, said the company is considering wealthtech targets among other subsectors. Formal advisers have not yet been appointed, the person added. A move into wealthtech could help Ondo connect its tokenized products with broader distribution channels used by financial advisors and retail investors — a segment that traditional asset managers have spent decades building.
An Ondo representative provided the following statement in emailed comments to CoinDesk: "As a fast-growing company, Ondo regularly evaluates the market as part of normal business operations. We are not in conversations with any party at this time."
Founded in 2021 by former Goldman Sachs executives, Ondo Finance operates a tokenization platform that brings traditional financial assets onchain. The company issues tokenized U.S. Treasuries and stocks and has grown into one of the largest providers of tokenized real-world assets, with more than $3.5 billion across its products (rwa.xyz). Ondo competes in a tokenized-RWA market that has attracted major traditional finance entrants, including BlackRock's BUIDL tokenized treasury fund and Franklin Templeton's FOBXX, signaling growing institutional conviction in bringing fixed-income and money-market products on public blockchains.
Despite managing billions of dollars in tokenized assets, Ondo has raised just $24 million in venture funding since its founding, supplemented by a roughly $10 million public ONDO token sale — making it one of crypto's most capital-efficient infrastructure companies. ONDO was trading approximately 6% higher over 24 hours, around $0.42 at publication time.
Crypto M&A Landscape in 2026
Crypto dealmaking has remained robust throughout 2026 as traditional financial firms and larger digital-asset companies turn to acquisitions to add licenses, technology, and distribution capabilities.
The sector recorded 89 transactions worth $3.2 billion in the first quarter, followed by $12.9 billion in disclosed deal value in the second quarter — the second-highest quarterly total on record — according to data from Architect Partners. Payments, stablecoins, custody, tokenization, and institutional trading infrastructure have emerged as key acquisition targets as companies pursue scale and broader product offerings.
Notable recent transactions include Keyrock's acquisition of BlockFills' trading and brokerage assets, Kraken's $550 million purchase of Bitnomial, and CoinDesk owner Bullish's $4.2 billion acquisition of investment platform Equiniti. The Equiniti deal, in particular, underscored how tokenization-focused firms are acquiring regulated transfer-agent and shareholder-services infrastructure to bridge onchain products with traditional securities processes.
