Shipping brokerage and maritime consultancy firm Omega T Brokers has expanded its activities into global bunker brokerage, serving commercial vessels, cruise ships and superyachts.
The company has appointed Dennis Papachristodoulou as strategic partner and bunker broker, working alongside CEO Captain Thalis F. Orologas, Omega T Brokers told Ship & Bunker in an emailed statement on Friday.
Papachristodoulou brings experience in bunker trading, technical vessel management and marine engineering. His background includes roles as a global bunker trader and fleet superintendent, as well as engineering positions with shipping, cruise and yacht companies.
Orologas has more than 30 years of maritime experience spanning seagoing operations, shipbroking, chartering and marine fuel supply.
According to Omega T Brokers, the company works with physical suppliers and fuel traders worldwide to provide bunker quotations, supplier selection, price negotiations, delivery coordination and post-delivery support. Its fuel offering includes VLSFO, HSFO, MGO and LSMGO. That grade lineup spans the main fuel categories used across the global fleet today: VLSFO and HSFO reflect the split that has defined the market since the International Maritime Organization's 2020 sulphur cap mandated fuels of 0.50% sulphur or below for most ships, while HSFO remains in demand for vessels fitted with exhaust gas cleaning systems, or scrubbers. MGO and LSMGO cover distillate grades, with the low-sulphur variant typically used in emission control areas where a 0.10% sulphur limit applies.
By acting as an intermediary between ship operators and physical suppliers, independent bunker brokers such as Omega T compete on market intelligence, supplier networks and negotiation leverage rather than on physical fuel supply, a segment of the marine fuels market long dominated by major trading houses and physical suppliers. For a young firm, the appointments bring sector-specific fuel trading and engineering expertise to a service line that depends heavily on supplier relationships and price transparency across ports.
In addition to bunker brokerage, the company provides dry bulk chartering, cargo and vessel matching, and commercial maritime consultancy.
Founded in 2023, Omega T Brokers has offices in New York, Delaware, Miami and Athens. Its locations place it alongside major bunkering hubs, with the US East Coast and Gulf, and Greece's Piraeus-based shipping cluster, ranking among the world's significant marine fuel markets.
