Nvidia has announced a long-term strategic partnership with Safe Superintelligence, the AI research lab founded by former OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever. Bloomberg reported that Nvidia’s investment was $5 billion, although neither company disclosed an official amount and described the investment only as “substantial.”
The announcement was made Monday, with Nvidia stock trading near recent highs. NVDA has been among the strongest-performing large-cap stocks over the past two years, as investor attention has remained focused on artificial intelligence infrastructure and demand for advanced chips.
Under the agreement, Safe Superintelligence, also known as SSI, will receive access to Nvidia’s Vera Rubin GPU platform. The access is expected to increase SSI’s available compute “by an order of magnitude,” according to the announcement. The added capacity is a significant expansion for a lab that has operated quietly for two years while pursuing what it describes as a new research direction.

What SSI Brings to the Partnership
SSI has kept its research closely guarded since its launch. Nvidia said it entered the partnership after gaining “rare access” to that research, indicating that the agreement followed a deeper review of the lab’s work rather than a routine hardware supply arrangement.
