Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG) has published its Sustainability Report 2026, setting out a new sustainability strategy for the green coffee service group.

The company said it made progress in scaling agroforestry, distributing 20.9 million trees over the past year through programs promoting agroforestry and intercropping systems. NKG said the figure reflects the coffee industry’s growing focus on climate resilience, shade-grown production, biodiversity, and farm diversification, all of which are becoming more prominent as producers and traders adapt to long-term environmental pressures in coffee origins.

NKG also said it has achieved a 33.9 per cent reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions since 2022 and has developed its first Climate Action Plan. The company said it has been calculating its carbon footprint across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 and is building reduction pathways across its global operations, a step that adds structure to sustainability work across a business that operates in multiple origin and export markets.

As part of its work to provide training, technical support, and implementation assistance for sustainability programs, NKG said it now has about 350 staff working in Farmer Service Units (FSUs) across producing countries.

The new sustainability strategy is built around three pillars: Nature, Resilience, and Livelihoods. NKG said the framework is intended to provide a clear direction for how the company will create long-term value in a rapidly evolving coffee sector.

“Defined KPIs and country-specific action plans guide implementation, while NKG’s origin teams play a central role in translating global priorities into locally relevant solutions. Economic viability underpins all three pillars, as sustainability can only be scaled and sustained when participation along the value chain remains viable,” the report reads.

NKG currently operates more than 40 coffee-only companies in 28 countries. It has more than 3,300 employees working in export, milling, farming, agency, and representative sectors across the coffee industry.
