Kerman Contracting, the non-process infrastructure business of engineering company Monadelphous Group (ASX:MND), has been awarded a $165 million design and construction contract by Rio Tinto for the Brockman Syncline 1 (BS1) project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

The contract covers the design and construction of non-process infrastructure facilities, including a heavy mine equipment workshop, heavy and light mine equipment washdown areas, tyre change facilities, and fuel storage and refuelling facilities.

The Pilbara is Australia's largest iron ore producing region, and Rio Tinto operates an extensive network of mines and rail infrastructure there. The BS1 project forms part of the company's ongoing investment in sustaining and expanding its Pilbara iron ore operations.

Monadelphous Managing Director Zoran Bebic stated that work will commence in 2026 and is expected to be completed in 2028.

"The award reflects Kerman's expertise and strong track record, further strengthening its forward order book," Bebic said.

"Kerman's award of this work builds on the multidisciplinary construction contract that Monadelphous secured at BS1 late last year. It is also very pleasing to see Kerman secure another contract with Rio Tinto, in addition to the work currently being performed at Hope Downs 2."

The BS1 contract follows an earlier announcement this month in which Monadelphous reported approximately $200 million in new construction and maintenance contracts across the resources and energy sectors.

Among those awards, Monadelphous secured two contracts with Fortescue. The first involves the installation of wind turbine generators (WTGs) for the Nullagine Wind project in Western Australia. The second is a three-year contract to continue delivering maintenance services across Fortescue's Pilbara operations.

In Queensland, Monadelphous obtained a three-year contract, with two one-year extension options, to provide multidisciplinary services at Santos' upstream field development and production operations.

The company was also awarded a Santos contract for the construction of temporary camp facilities associated with the APF Tie-In project in the Southern Highlands region of Papua New Guinea. Work on that project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

Additionally, Monadelphous secured a three-year contract to continue providing operation and maintenance services at Synergy's Muja Power Station in Collie, Western Australia.

The breadth of these awards — spanning iron ore, gas, renewable energy and power generation across multiple states and Papua New Guinea — reflects the diverse range of major resource and energy infrastructure projects under way in the regions where Monadelphous operates.

Prior to market open, MND shares were steady at $28.47, with a market capitalisation of $2.863 billion.
