Mesh Partners With Visa to Enable Direct Crypto and Stablecoin Payments
Key Takeaways
- •Mesh has partnered with Visa to let consumers pay with cryptocurrency and stablecoin balances directly from their existing wallet apps at merchants that accept Visa, without converting holdings to bank deposits or obtaining a separate card.
- •A Visa payment credential is provisioned in the background, enabling purchases at standard contactless terminals and online checkouts without manually selling, transferring, or preloading funds.
- •Merchants will continue receiving payments through their existing systems with no additional hardware or checkout changes, while Mesh serves as program manager handling transaction funding, conversion, user onboarding, and KYC verification.
- •The partnership gives participating wallets access to Visa's acceptance network of more than 175 million merchant locations across over 200 countries and territories, where Visa processed $14.2 trillion in payment volume during fiscal 2025.
- •Despite an estimated 774 million global cryptocurrency owners as of June 2026, crypto-linked card volumes of roughly $1.5 billion per month in late 2025 underscore the adoption-to-spending gap the partnership is designed to address, though initial availability and participating platforms have yet to be announced.

Mesh, a US-based crypto payments network, has announced a partnership with Visa to let consumers spend cryptocurrency and stablecoin balances directly through the wallet applications they already use, at physical stores and with online merchants. The collaboration is designed to eliminate the need for users to convert digital assets into bank deposits or obtain a separate payment card before making a purchase.
The partnership combines Visa's global merchant acceptance network with Mesh's payment orchestration infrastructure, allowing participating platforms to connect digital asset balances to conventional payment systems. Visa operates across more than 175 million merchant locations in over 200 countries and territories, and processed $14.2 trillion in payment volume during fiscal 2025. That acceptance footprint is central to the deal: connecting to Visa's network gives participating wallets immediate reach into merchant acceptance that individual platforms would otherwise have to arrange on their own.
How the payment system will work
Under the arrangement, participating wallets and digital asset platforms will be able to offer users a pay-from-balance experience. A Visa payment credential is provisioned in the background, enabling consumers to make purchases at standard contactless terminals or complete online checkouts without manually selling, transferring, or preloading funds.
That background credential contrasts with the crypto-linked card model, in which users obtain a separate payment card to spend their digital assets.
Merchants will continue to receive payments through their existing systems, with no additional hardware or changes to checkout procedures required. The approach is intended to make spending digital assets more convenient while preserving the payment experience familiar to both consumers and businesses.
Mesh will coordinate transaction funding and conversion across cryptocurrency, stablecoin, fiat currency balances. The company will also serve as program manager, overseeing user onboarding and know-your-customer (KYC) verification requirements.
The infrastructure is meant to simplify the process for platforms seeking to introduce crypto payment capabilities. Instead of independently developing payment processing, card issuance, and related systems, participating businesses can integrate with Mesh through a single connection.
Mesh already supports more than 200 enterprises, including Kalshi, Tools for Humanity, Félix Pago, MAJORITY, and KAST. The company expects its infrastructure to help additional platforms make digital assets usable for everyday purchases.
Mesh and @Visa are partnering to make crypto and stablecoin balances spendable anywhere Visa is accepted: 175M+ merchant locations, straight from the wallet apps people already use. No separate card. No cash-out. Nothing for merchants to change.

Visa targets growing demand for digital asset payments
Mesh co-founder and CEO Bam Azizi said the main obstacle to wider cryptocurrency spending has been the final connection between users' digital asset holdings and merchant payment systems. The company aims to address that challenge by managing transaction funding and conversion at the moment a purchase takes place.
Visa likewise sees an opportunity to connect digital asset ownership with established payment experiences. Rubail Birwadker, Visa's global head of growth, said consumers increasingly expect flexibility in how and where they can spend their money. The partnership with Mesh is intended to expand the ways digital asset balances can be used across existing merchant and payment networks.
The arrangement could allow consumers to spend funds held across multiple supported wallets at Visa-accepting merchants without needing a separate card for each platform.
Despite the expansion of cryptocurrency ownership, digital assets still account for a relatively small portion of mainstream payments. Research from Crypto.com estimated that the number of global cryptocurrency owners reached 774 million as of June 2026. Meanwhile, reports indicated that crypto-linked card transaction volumes were running at approximately $1.5 billion per month by late 2025, highlighting the gap between digital asset adoption and everyday spending — the gap this partnership is designed to close by handling funding and conversion at the point of purchase.
Mesh expands its crypto payments infrastructure
The Visa partnership builds on Mesh's recent efforts to expand its enterprise and digital asset payment services. The company has joined Paxos' Global Dollar Network and introduced the Mesh Alliance Program, which includes more than 50 partners and is designed to simplify crypto payment integration for businesses.
Mesh has also launched Mesh Wallet, a product that enables artificial intelligence agents to carry out real-world transactions using stablecoins.
The companies have yet to announce initial availability, supported devices, or the platforms that will participate in the rollout. Those details will help determine how quickly the service can reach consumers and whether it can make cryptocurrency and stablecoin balances a more practical option for everyday spending.
