Unpredictable weather swept across Clark International Speedway — shifting from clear skies to heavy rain and back to sunshine — but it did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm surrounding the return of Mazda Fan Festa. Leg 2 of the popular event finally roared to life following a rescheduling prompted by the US-Iran war, and the excitement among attendees was palpable. Spectators had clearly missed the on-track action and the buzzing atmosphere in and around the paddocks.

Partner brands returned as well, offering lifestyle merchandise, car accessories, and a wide selection of food and beverages ranging from tasty treats to refreshing drinks for attendees of all ages.

Mazda Fan Festa celebrates the Japanese automaker's brand in its entirety. The annual event originated in Japan, and the Philippines remains the only other market to host it. That exclusivity reflects Mazda's sustained investment in the Philippine market, where Japanese automakers have long competed for loyalty among a growing base of enthusiastic owners. Mazda Philippines President Steven Tan expressed pride in that distinction during a previous interview with "Velocity," stating: "We are of the opinion that Fan Festa is best done with Mazda owners, Mazda drivers, Mazda family, Mazda friends. Fan Festa works best with people familiar with the family, the community. And so therefore the job is to expand it further."

At its core, Tan emphasized, Mazda Fan Festa — bannered by grassroots racing events — is about "the drivers and the community." Motorsport is an integral part of the marque's DNA, and the track gives customers and enthusiasts a chance to experience the race-bred capabilities of Mazda vehicles, particularly the Miata (MX-5), in their natural environment. The MX-5 is among the most widely used platforms in grassroots and spec racing worldwide, prized for its lightweight balance, reliability, and accessibility — qualities that align directly with the inclusive philosophy Tan describes. Events such as the MSCC Miata Spec Series, MCP Miata Cup, track experiences, and time trials showcase these performance attributes while granting participants hands-on access to elevated driving dynamics. It is an inclusive event that demonstrates motorsport is attainable for a broad audience.

Beyond the racing, the gathering functions as a community-building occasion that unites Mazda owners, car clubs, racers, dealer partners, media, and participants around a shared passion.

For this leg, Mazda Philippines unveiled a dedicated facility at the track. In a release, the company described it as "more than just a paddock, it is envisioned as a home for Mazda's motorsports activities, owner gatherings, media engagements, and future community events. It represents our long-term commitment to growing grassroots motorsports and providing a venue where enthusiasts can connect through their shared passion for driving."

The elegantly minimalistic, three-storey structure features a purpose-built paddock on the ground level, a receiving lounge on the second floor, and a viewing area overlooking the circuit on the third floor. Tan noted that the facility, initially leased for five years, creates new possibilities as a versatile venue for a range of corporate and community events. The investment places Mazda among a small number of automotive brands in the Philippines to establish a permanent motorsport presence at Clark, one of the country's premier racing circuits.

Looking ahead, the vision for Mazda Fan Festa is ambitious and increasingly aligned with the spirit of the original Japanese event. "There will be more festivities, more food stores, more things to do, more things for the family, like how the Fuji experience is," Tan promised.

For this year, Mazda Philippines has refined its programming by more clearly distinguishing Fan Festa from pure racing and driving experiences held at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

Back at Clark, after the races concluded and awards were handed out, participants gathered for a cherished Mazda Fan Festa tradition: the Sunset Parade. Following the intensity of competition, a leisurely set of laps around the circuit underscored the event's central theme — a genuine sense of family, accompanied by smiles, laughter, and camaraderie.

More than 70 Mazda vehicles made their way around the track in a deliberate, celebratory procession, creating a striking visual display of unity and distilling the entire experience into its most meaningful core.
