Keurig Dr Pepper Appoints Aaron Alt to Board of Directors Ahead of Planned Business Separation

Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) has appointed Aaron Alt to its Board of Directors, effective 14 August, as the company advances its previously announced strategy to separate its beverage and coffee operations into two independent, standalone businesses. The planned split reflects a broader trend among large consumer packaged goods companies to break up diversified portfolios in pursuit of greater operational focus and strategic flexibility.

Alt will also join KDP's Audit and Finance Committee upon taking his seat. He currently serves as Chief Financial Officer of Cardinal Health, where he oversees the company's financial and corporate development activities. Before joining the healthcare provider in 2023, Alt held the role of Executive Vice President and CFO at foodservice distributor Sysco Corporation. His experience guiding finance organisations at large, complex public companies is particularly relevant given the governance and reporting demands of establishing two separate publicly traded entities.

KDP itself was formed in 2018 through the combination of Keurig Green Mountain and Dr Pepper Snapple Group, creating a vertically integrated beverage and coffee platform. The forthcoming separation would effectively unwind that structure, splitting the company into the future Beverage Co. and Global Coffee Co.

KDP Board Chair Pamela Patsley said Alt's appointment will strengthen the company's governance capabilities during a period of significant transformation.

"With his track record as a three-time public company CFO and his broad experience across finance, operations and corporate development, Aaron will be a valuable addition to our Board," Patsley said. "We continue to appoint world class leaders as we grow our Board and its capabilities in advance of separation into the future Beverage Co. and Global Coffee Co."

KDP President and CEO Tim Cofer emphasized that Alt's expertise will be particularly relevant as the company works to establish two focused organisations.

"Aaron has successfully led finance organisations through periods of growth, transformation and change, and his perspective will be highly relevant as we prepare to launch two focused, category-leading companies," Cofer said.

The future Global Coffee Co. will build on a portfolio spanning more than 100 markets, including the Keurig single-serve brewing system alongside coffee brands such as Peet's, L'OR, and Jacobs. KDP currently employs more than 50,000 people and manages a portfolio of more than 150 owned, licensed, and partner brands across its beverage and coffee businesses. As the separation progresses, investors and industry observers will be watching for further board appointments, detailed timelines, and financial structures for each entity.
