John Deere is introducing an artificial intelligence tool that the company says will help farmers put their data to work.

Kevin Seidl, Deere's director of product management for digital solutions, describes JD as an AI assistant.

"JD takes the power of AI technologies and couples them with the knowledge and intelligence that John Deere has, but also the knowledge, intelligence and data that farmers have collected on their operations," Seidl says.

He tells Brownfield that JD enables farmers to tap into valuable field, machine, and operational data.

"Looking at trends over time, changes season to season across fields or within a field, and trying to understand how those have an impact on yield. JD makes all of those much simpler and accessible to everyone," he says.

JD will live inside Operations Center, Deere's existing web-based farm management platform where growers already store records, field data, and machine information collected from connected equipment. That positioning matters because it means the assistant builds on a data ecosystem many Deere customers already use, rather than requiring a separate system.

The launch also fits a broader pattern across agricultural equipment manufacturing, where companies are layering AI onto precision agriculture tools — such as guidance systems, variable-rate technology, and machine data analytics — that have accumulated years of field-level information on farms.

Deere is opening an Early Access Program for JD, and Seidl says the AI assistant will become more widely available later this year through Operations Center.
