Nacha has announced that dhango is now a Nacha Preferred Partner for Risk and Fraud Prevention, Compliance, and Open Banking.

dhango provides white-labeled payments infrastructure that enables software platforms to embed ACH payments through a single API. Its ACH capabilities include merchant onboarding and underwriting, KYC/AML screening, authorization management, exposure and velocity controls, return and dispute management, and Third-Party Sender support for platforms originating high ACH volumes.

Nacha is the body that governs the ACH Network, the U.S. electronic payment system used by financial institutions for direct deposits, bill payments, and a wide range of other transactions. The network handles tens of billions of payments annually — Nacha reported more than 31 billion ACH payments in 2023 — and its usage has continued to grow as businesses and consumers shift away from checks toward electronic transfers. Nacha develops and maintains the Nacha Operating Rules, which set the standards for ACH payments, and works with thousands of financial institution and industry participants to advance the network.

"As organizations use software platforms to originate ACH payments, strong risk management and compliance practices are important to maintaining a safe ACH Network," said Jane Larimer, Nacha President and CEO. "We are pleased to welcome dhango as a Nacha Preferred Partner."

"Software platforms are originating more ACH volume every year, and the quality of their infrastructure has a real effect on the quality of that ACH volume," said Milan Malkani, Founder of dhango. "Joining the Preferred Partner Program keeps our team close to the industry conversations that shape ACH. For our customers, that means the ACH capabilities embedded in their platforms are built on current standards and sound risk practices. For the industry, it means the new generation of platforms embedding ACH is building on Nacha's standards, not around them."

The partnership reflects a broader trend of embedded payments, in which software companies add payment capabilities directly into their products rather than routing users to separate financial services. As non-financial platforms take on payment origination roles such as Third-Party Senders, they also take on rule and risk obligations that the Nacha Operating Rules place on those roles, which is where compliance-focused infrastructure providers position themselves.

Nacha's Preferred Partner Program is open to any technology solution provider whose offerings align with Nacha's strategy of advancing the ACH Network. The program recognizes companies offering products and services that support the safety, soundness, and evolution of ACH payments.
