Converge is turning to a familiar face in hopes of reversing its sagging fortunes, bringing in American forward Cameron Clark — a player already well accustomed to the demands of the PBA.

Clark, who has had three previous PBA stints dating back to 2021, replaces Jamaaal Franklin as the FiberXers' import. The move comes as Converge (3-4) attempts to snap a four-game losing streak and strengthen its push for one of four quarterfinal berths in Group A of the Season 50 Governors' Cup, the league's golden anniversary season.

The 6-foot-5 Clark assumes import duties just in time for the FiberXers' pivotal matchup against Terrafirma (3-4) on Tuesday at Ynares Center-Antipolo, where sole possession of fourth place in the seven-team bracket is at stake. Only the top four teams in each group advance to the quarterfinals, making every remaining outing critical for teams hovering around the cutoff.

Clark was not originally Converge's primary target. He becomes the team's third import of the conference, following Franklin, who was released after failing to deliver a victory in three appearances. Franklin had himself replaced original reinforcement Jalen Hudson. The revolving door underscores how quickly teams in the import-reinforced Governors' Cup — where reinforcements are capped at 6-foot-6 — will move when production falls short of expectations.

The call ultimately went to Clark after Travin Thibodeaux was found to exceed the 6-foot-6 height limit for the conference.

Now on his fourth PBA tour of duty, the 34-year-old Clark is expected to require a shorter adjustment period under head coach Dennis Pineda, a bonus for a team that has already burned through two imports and cannot afford further turbulence in the standings.

His most recent PBA action came with guest team Eastern in the Season 49 Commissioner's Cup, where he averaged 29.2 points, 12 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1 block, guiding the Hong Kong club to a 3-2 record as its first import.

Before that, Clark helped power San Miguel Beer to a semifinal finish in the Season 47 Governors' Cup, posting averages of 28.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists across 15 games.

He made his PBA debut as NLEX's replacement import in the Season 46 Governors' Cup, recording solid numbers of 24.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.8 steals.

Clark faces an immediate challenge in the 5:15 p.m. contest against a Terrafirma squad fresh off a statement 114-109 upset of the previously unbeaten NLEX Road Warriors last Friday.

In the 7:30 p.m. main event, NLEX (6-1) gets a swift opportunity to bounce back against defending champion TNT (4-3).

A heated battle is expected as head coach Jimmy Alapag and the Road Warriors face Chot Reyes and the Tropang 5G, who are determined to avenge their 83-88 loss to NLEX exactly one week ago. The matchup carries added personal weight: Alapag, a longtime TNT franchise icon who won multiple championships under Reyes during their shared tenure with the organization, now helms a rival squad looking to prove itself against his former mentor.

"For our team, it's just about continuing to grow, continuing to improve and we'll see how we bounce back on Tuesday," Alapag said after his team suffered its first loss of the conference.
