Binance says regulatory cooperation, crypto education and community engagement are the three main priorities guiding its approach to India’s expanding cryptocurrency market.
India is reportedly among the world’s largest crypto markets, with millions of users continuing to adopt digital assets despite regulatory challenges. As demand for digital assets grows in the country, crypto exchanges including Binance are treating India as an important market for long-term expansion. The market is also closely watched because India has regulated crypto mainly through compliance, taxation and anti-money laundering obligations rather than a single comprehensive digital asset law.
In an exclusive interview with Entrepreneur India, Binance Head of APAC SB Seker outlined the three core areas the exchange is focusing on as it develops its presence in India. According to Binance, regulatory cooperation, crypto education and community engagement can support the growth of the country’s crypto ecosystem.
Regulatory compliance remains Binance’s top focus in India
Seker said regulatory compliance is Binance’s leading priority in India. While India does not yet have a comprehensive crypto regulatory framework, the country has established licensing requirements. Binance says it maintains its FIU-IND registration to comply with India’s regulatory rules and also follows the country’s anti-money laundering (AML) requirements. For exchanges serving Indian users, FIU-IND registration is a key compliance step because India requires virtual digital asset service providers to follow AML reporting and due diligence standards.
Beyond meeting regulatory standards, Binance says it is working with Indian law enforcement agencies. The company’s investigation team supports agencies during probes involving crypto-related crime. Binance says such cooperation is necessary to help prevent illegal crypto activity and strengthen customer protection.
According to Seker, a crypto exchange should do more than comply with regulatory requirements. He said exchanges should also assist the government in building a secure and trustworthy crypto ecosystem in the country.
Binance emphasizes crypto education
Education is the second pillar of Binance’s India strategy, Seker said. The exchange aims to increase awareness of crypto and blockchain among Indians through Binance Academy and other educational content. Binance says these resources are intended to help newcomers understand the digital asset sector.
Seker added: “We believe that informed users make better decisions, and education is the foundation for sustainable market growth. This is particularly important in India, where crypto literacy varies widely, and quality education can be the difference between empowered participation and unnecessary risk-taking.”
Community engagement is part of the long-term strategy
The third area Binance is prioritizing in India is community engagement. Through Binance Square, the company says it is working to expand crypto awareness. The exchange’s social platform also hosts crypto events each year to encourage participation from Indian crypto users.
Binance says these initiatives are intended to help Indian users and enthusiasts learn more about cryptocurrencies and the blockchain industry. By building an active community, the exchange says it aims to help place India at the forefront of the global crypto sector. For Binance and other exchanges, the next test in India will be how effectively they combine user growth with continuing compliance demands and efforts to improve consumer understanding of crypto risks.
