Binance Bitcoin Reserves Reach Two-Year High Above 693,000 BTC
Key Takeaways
- •Binance's Bitcoin reserves have reached more than 693,000 BTC, the highest level recorded in two years, according to CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost.
- •The exchange now holds roughly 30% of the Bitcoin reserves across major cryptocurrency exchanges, after adding about 77,000 BTC since late April.
- •Analyst Darkfost cited possible drivers including profit-taking transfers after strong rallies, Binance's $1 billion SAFU fund commitment to acquire around 15,000 BTC, and security-related moves following the ColdCard incident.
- •Because aggregate on-chain figures cannot identify which users initiated transfers or confirm whether assets will be sold, analysts are tracking whale movements and spot-market demand to gauge whether the buildup leads to greater selling pressure.

Binance’s Bitcoin reserves have risen above 693,000 BTC, their highest level in two years, according to CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost.
The exchange now holds approximately 30% of the Bitcoin reserves across major cryptocurrency exchanges. Since late April, Binance’s holdings have increased by roughly 77,000 BTC, making the buildup one of the largest recorded among exchanges in recent months.
The increase has drawn attention from traders monitoring exchange balances for indications of changing market conditions. Higher exchange reserves can mean that more Bitcoin is available for trading and may be watched as a potential indicator of future selling activity. However, rising reserves do not necessarily result in immediate price declines.
Exchange-reserve figures are aggregate on-chain estimates associated with exchange-controlled addresses. They show where Bitcoin is held, but do not by themselves identify which users initiated individual transfers or establish whether the assets will be sold.
Factors that may be contributing to the increase
Darkfost said the rise may partly reflect investors transferring Bitcoin to exchanges after strong rallies in May and more recently, potentially in preparation to take profits.
He also cited Binance’s announcement that its SAFU fund would invest $1 billion to acquire around 15,000 BTC. In addition, transfers may have increased as users sought additional asset security following the ColdCard incident. These factors may have contributed to the rapid growth in Binance’s Bitcoin holdings.
The exact reason for every transfer cannot be confirmed using on-chain data alone. Analysts are therefore also monitoring whale movements and spot-market demand to determine whether the additional exchange-held Bitcoin results in greater selling pressure. Continued changes in Binance’s reserves, alongside those measures, will help show whether the increase represents a sustained shift in exchange-held supply or a series of isolated transfers.
