Andrew Tate’s X account complained Sunday about conditions in his jail cell, drawing mockery from critics after the MAGA-aligned influencer’s arrest in Florida earlier this month.

Tate, who has frequently boasted about his closeness to the Trump family, appeared to be communicating from a Special Housing Unit, a form of segregated jail housing that can carry tighter restrictions than general population. He is facing extradition on a series of charges that include child pornography.

“My water faucet is broken,” the account posted. “I am not allowed bottles of water in SHU. I have nothing clean to drink.”

Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate, both face extradition to the United Kingdom in connection with charges that include rape and sex trafficking, according to reports. Their attorney has denied the allegations and said the brothers are innocent. Extradition proceedings determine whether a person can be transferred to another jurisdiction to face charges; they are separate from a trial on the underlying allegations.

The Tate brothers were previously arrested in Romania in 2022 on rape and human trafficking charges, though that case stalled following pressure from the Trump administration.

“My only water comes from the shower, warm and from a brown and filthy faucet,” Tate’s account posted Sunday. “It has given me persistent stomach problems.”

Several critics declined to offer sympathy, framing the complaint against Tate’s public image as a hypermasculine online personality.

The “Socialist Voice” X account, formerly run by British Labour activist Scott Nelson, also offered sarcastic advice over Tate’s reported lack of bottled water.
