Anchorage Digital Expands USD Accounts and SWIFT Access Through Standard Chartered Partnership

Anchorage Digital is broadening its banking services for international institutional clients through a partnership with Standard Chartered, adding US dollar accounts and access to SWIFT payments alongside its existing crypto custody and trading products.

Eligible clients onboarded through Anchorage Digital Singapore can now hold US dollars, send and receive international wires, and move funds to and from third parties over Standard Chartered's banking infrastructure, according to an official announcement from the company.

The offering also provides clients with 24/7 settlement against counterparties that bank with Standard Chartered Singapore, including on weekends and holidays — a notable departure from traditional wire transfers, which typically clear only during banking hours on business days.

The expansion is designed to bring fiat and digital asset operations onto a single platform, rather than requiring institutions to rely on separate providers for banking, custody, trading and settlement. Available services include institutional USD accounts, named virtual accounts with unique routing details, SWIFT transfers — the standardized messaging network banks worldwide use to exchange cross-border payment instructions — and Anchorage Digital's Atlas settlement network, offered alongside the firm's digital asset custody and trading products.

"Global businesses should not have to choose between the speed of digital assets and the reliability of traditional banking rails," Anchorage Digital CEO and co-founder Nathan McCauley said.

For institutional operators, the arrangement addresses a recurring operational friction: moving between fiat and digital assets has typically meant maintaining separate banking and custody relationships, with dollar transfers constrained by cut-off times and weekend closures. Consolidating those functions with a single counterparty reduces the number of handoffs — and the waiting windows between them.

The company said the service is aimed at global trading firms, crypto exchanges, protocols, neobanks, banks, asset managers, family offices and corporates operating across multiple markets.

Anchorage Digital, which operates under the first national trust charter granted to a digital asset bank by the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, said the move also deepens its footprint in Asia Pacific where the firm said institutional demand for digital asset infrastructure continues to grow.

Luke Boland, Standard Chartered's Global Head of Fintech, said the partnership combines the bank's payments and risk infrastructure with Anchorage Digital's regulated platform, making it easier for institutional firms to manage fiat and digital assets across borders.

Anchorage Digital said the broader goal is to consolidate payments, custody, trading and settlement within a single institutional platform as traditional banking rails and blockchain infrastructure increasingly converge. How institutional clients in the region take up the combined offering will offer an early read on that demand.
