美國銀行副總裁 Erin Piacenti 於週一在紐約市時報廣場的一起持刀刺傷攻擊中遇害。

紐約市警察局（NYPD）確認，32 歲、來自紐澤西州 Chester 的 Piacenti 為死者。

美國銀行在路透社取得的一封電子郵件中證實了 Piacenti 的死亡。

"We are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss ​of our colleague. She was a ​valued teammate who will be greatly ⁠missed. Our hearts go out to her ​family and all of her loved ones," 銀行在郵件中寫道。

根據 NYPD 的說法，Piacenti 是這起攻擊中兩名遭刺傷者之一，另一名為 68 歲男子，目前情況穩定。

時報廣場是紐約市最繁忙的觀光與商業區之一；週一下午 4:30 前不久接獲 911 報案後，警方在數分鐘內趕抵現場。NYPD 警員在現場發現一名手持兩把刀的 49 歲女子。

NYPD 將其確認為來自紐約皇后區的 Pamela Cisneros。警方朝 Cisneros 開槍，該女子之後在醫院被宣告死亡，該部門表示。

一名目擊者告訴調查人員，Cisneros 從一個紅色的 Target 袋子裡抽出兩把屠夫刀，朝那名 68 歲男子揮舞刀刃，隨後刺入其腹部。NYPD 局長 Jessica Tisch 在週一記者會上表示，這兩起刺傷相隔不到 20 秒。

Tisch 也將這起連環刺傷稱為「random and unprovoked attack」。

Tisch 表示，員警先與 Cisneros 進行緊張對峙，最終才開槍將其擊中。

在長達四分鐘的對峙中，員警多次警告她放下武器，但她回應說，"I’m not dropping anything. I would rather kill both of you," Tisch 說。

據稱，Cisneros 隨後揮舞著刀子朝員警逼近。Tisch 表示，員警使用了電擊槍，但未能阻止她前進。之後兩名員警開槍，擊中 Cisneros。

"Our officers were confronted with a rapidly evolving threat, with countless innocent people around them," Tisch 說。"In that moment, they did what we train them to do."

Tisch 表示，Cisneros 沒有犯罪紀錄，但曾因心理健康發作與警方有多次接觸。

"One life cut far too short by a senseless act of violence," Tisch 說。"There are family members and loved ones who are now confronting the unimaginable loss, and our hearts are with them," 她補充道。
