The CMA CGM Group, a global player in sea, land, air and logistics solutions, and Stonepeak, a leading alternative investment firm specializing in infrastructure and real assets, have announced the completion of UNITED PORTS LLC after receiving all required regulatory approvals.

Under the agreement announced in January 2026, Stonepeak has completed a $2.4 billion investment to acquire a 25% stake in the new entity. CMA CGM retains a 75% ownership stake and full operational control of the joint venture.

UNITED PORTS LLC brings together nine major CMA CGM-operated port terminals in the United States, Brazil, Spain, Taiwan and Vietnam. The portfolio includes Fenix Marine Services in Los Angeles, Port Liberty in New York and Bayonne, Santos, CSP Valencia and Bilbao, TTI Algeciras, Kaohsiung Terminal, and Gemalink.

The initial portfolio is expected to expand in the coming months with the addition of CMA CGM’s stake in Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal, subject to receipt of the required regulatory approvals.

As part of the port infrastructure joint venture, CMA CGM and Stonepeak plan to accelerate the development and modernization of the terminals in the portfolio. The plan includes financing port capacity expansions, acquiring new cargo-handling equipment, improving logistics connectivity with rail and inland transport networks, and deploying infrastructure to support the decarbonization of port operations, including equipment electrification and shore power facilities.

By consolidating terminals across several major trade regions into a single platform, the venture gives CMA CGM a structure to coordinate long-term infrastructure investment across ports that already sit within its logistics network. Stonepeak may also invest up to an additional $3.6 billion to pursue new investment opportunities in high-growth port assets in partnership with CMA CGM through UNITED PORTS LLC.

The transaction marks a new milestone in CMA CGM’s port infrastructure development strategy. The company said it will accelerate investment in new port capacity and improve its logistics offering for customers.
