ShipIn Systems Raises $52 Million to Scale AI Platform for the Connected Ship

ShipIn Systems, a company developing an AI operating system for commercial shipping, has secured $52 million in a new financing round. The round introduces several new investors, including Proofpoint Capital, HighSage Ventures, Bling Ventures, Framework Venture Partners, and Tokio Marine Future Fund. Existing investors — among them Zeev Ventures, Munich Re, Atinc, and Hyperplane Ventures — also participated. The involvement of both Munich Re and Tokio Marine, two of the world's largest marine insurers, signals growing industry convergence between operational technology and marine insurance, where real-time vessel data is increasingly valued for risk assessment and loss prevention.

As part of the financing, Matt Wallach, Co-founder of Proofpoint Capital and Co-founder of Veeva Systems (NYSE: VEEV), will join ShipIn's Board of Directors. Wallach's background scaling Veeva into a category-defining vertical software platform informs his thesis that maritime shipping is primed for a similar platform-layer consolidation.

The capital injection is intended to accelerate ShipIn's initiative known as "Power the Connected Ship," which consolidates operational data from across a vessel into a unified, AI-powered operational intelligence platform. Currently, the platform is deployed across 92 shipowners and more than 1,300 vessels, representing one of the largest AI deployments in the commercial shipping sector. That scale is notable in an industry that has historically relied on fragmented, vessel-by-vessel point solutions and manual reporting.

By integrating onboard cameras, vessel systems, sensors, and enterprise platforms, ShipIn delivers continuous operational visibility to Captains, Chief Engineers, crew members, and fleet managers, with the aim of enhancing safety, productivity, and overall fleet performance.

The new funding will support global expansion, deepen the company's AI capabilities, broaden product development, strengthen strategic partnerships across the maritime ecosystem, and reinforce investment in ShipIn's intellectual property portfolio.

"Commercial shipping is entering its AI era," said Osher Perry, Founder and CEO of ShipIn Systems. "For the first time, AI can transform operational data into operational intelligence. Our mission is to power the connected ship by turning every voyage into a continuous learning cycle: empowering crew, reducing risk and helping shipowners operate safer, smarter and more efficient fleets."

"We've seen this transformation before," said Matt Wallach. "I was present as the life sciences industry evolved from fragmented point solutions into an industry-wide operating system that fundamentally changed how organizations operate. We believe commercial shipping is now at a similar inflection point, driven by innovations with AI. ShipIn has the potential to become foundational infrastructure for the maritime industry and I'm excited to help the company achieve that vision."

"The future of marine insurance lies in preventing incidents before they occur," said Masaru Kusutani, Managing Executive Officer at Tokio Marine Holdings. "ShipIn provides shipowners with a new level of operational visibility that enables earlier risk identification, safer operations and stronger fleet performance. We believe technologies like ShipIn will play an increasingly important role in improving both the resilience and profitability of global shipping."

Commercial shipping is moving toward a future in which each vessel continuously learns from every operation, fleets grow more intelligent over time, and AI supports the people responsible for moving more than 90% of global trade. ShipIn is building the platform intended to make that future achievable.
