Singing Trio The Sirens Headlines Quezon Club Relaunch in Quezon City

Ten months after the Quezon Club first opened its doors to bring fresh energy to Quezon City's nightlife scene, the venue has undergone a relaunch — headlined by the debut of a new vocal trio called The Sirens.

The group is composed of Sheena Lee Palad, Crystal Paras, and Kris Atinen, who held their first performance on July 31 at the Quezon Club, situated within the Solaire Resort North entertainment complex in Quezon City, the most populous city in Metro Manila. Solaire Resort North, operated by Bloomberry Resorts Corporation, brings the Solaire brand — originally established at its Entertainment City complex in Parañaque — to the northern stretch of the metro. The club describes itself as offering "an after-dark experience that evolves from dining to immersive performances."

For their debut, The Sirens performed party hits spanning the 1970s through the 1990s, dressed in bedazzled ensembles in distinct colors — Ms. Palad in orange with a wig of lush curls, Ms. Atinen in gold, and Ms. Paras in green. Their setlist drew from artists such as Cyndi Lauper, Queen, ABBA, and the Manila Sound, a distinctly Filipino pop genre that emerged in the 1970s blending local sensibilities with Western rock and pop influences.

OPM icon Radha Cuadrado, who serves as both The Sirens' mentor and the Quezon Club's creative director, also delivered a special set during the evening. Cuadrado, a veteran of the Philippine music scene and a former member of the vocal group Kulay, said it was her idea for the three women to lean into their differences in vocal quality and personality to present a cohesive trio. She teased that future Friday performances will feature rotating themes, such as Motown nights and Broadway nights.

For the debut, however, she insisted on a proven formula. "We gotta do classics," she said of the 1970s-to-1990s setlist. "You can't go wrong with classics."

The relaunch also introduced new menu items at the Quezon Club, with a greater emphasis on Filipino flavors from chef January Belardo. Notable bar bites included the Empanada Kaliskis (P550), stuffed with smoked brisket, and the Spicy Tuna Tartare (P820), served with crunchy peppercorn crackers and a tang of vinegar. An assorted skewer platter (P1,800) is sized to satisfy a table of four to five throughout the evening.

The club's cocktail program remains a point of pride alongside its extensive wine list. A standout was the Smoked Hatch (P450), a drink inspired by the town of Pateros — known for its duck eggs — featuring duck-fat washed mezcal, strega, aperol, fresh lime juice, and agave syrup. The cocktail is presented on a small wooden log with a coconut "egg white" and a mango "yolk" draped along the side.

For dessert, the Rocky Road Creme Patissiere (P450) combines chocolate, caramel, toasted marshmallow, and chocolate shavings. The Burnt Honey Custard (P500) offers a lighter option, pairing rich burnt honey with the citrus brightness of a yuzu granita.

With a lively evening of vocal performances and an invitation for clubgoers to dance, the relaunched Quezon Club aims to deliver a well-rounded nightlife experience.
