IG Group Appoints Andrew Biggs as Chief Executive of IG Securities

IG Group has appointed Andrew Biggs as chief executive of IG Securities, elevating the trading executive just months after he joined the London-listed online trading broker.

The promotion expands Biggs's responsibilities beyond his previous role as trading director, a position he assumed in April with oversight of IG Prime, the group's institutional prime brokerage division, and trading operations across the group. IG Group, founded in 1974, is one of the UK's largest providers of online trading services, offering contracts for difference (CFDs), spread betting, and share dealing to retail and institutional clients worldwide. The group operates across Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, and the United States, having expanded its North American footprint through the 2021 acquisition of options trading platform tastytrade.

Biggs joined IG earlier this year from liquidity provider Finalto, where he had been employed since 2018 and was appointed chief executive of Finalto Trading in 2024. His arrival at IG followed the departure of the firm's long-serving trading director, Adam Blemings, who left at the beginning of the year after more than two decades with the company.

Announcing the appointment on LinkedIn, Biggs said he was "particularly excited by the opportunity to bring technology and trading closer together." He noted that combining the group's trading expertise with its technology and data capabilities would enable the firm to move faster and develop better products for both IG Prime and IG Consumer clients. The emphasis on technology integration reflects a broader industry trend, as online trading brokers face competitive pressure to deliver faster execution, tighter pricing, and more sophisticated tools across retail and institutional segments.

"IG has a long history of innovation in online trading, and I look forward to working with the talented teams across the Group as we build the foundations for its next phase of growth," Biggs said.
