Bitcoin Struggles Near $64K as WLD Drops 10% Despite $52.5M Funding Round

Bitcoin remained under pressure around the $64,000 level after briefly climbing to $67,000 earlier in the week and then facing a sharp rejection. The $64,000 zone has functioned as a recurring pivot point in recent weeks, with multiple failed attempts to establish support above it.

Most large-cap altcoins were also lower on a daily basis. ETH slipped toward $1,850, XRP continued to trade near the $1.10 support area, and ZEC declined by 6%.

BTC Retreats to $64K

The past week initially looked constructive for the leading cryptocurrency. After falling to $63,750 on Monday, bitcoin staged a strong rebound and rose to $67,000 on Tuesday evening, reaching that level for the first time in more than a month. The move came amid renewed ETF net inflows and fresh purchases from whales.

The advance did not hold, however, as the broader market remained fragile. BTC moved lower in the following sessions, dropping to $64,750 on Thursday before recovering by about $1,000 on Friday morning.

That rebound was also short-lived. Another rejection followed, consistent with the pattern seen on several recent Fridays, and bitcoin fell by $2,000 after US President Trump warned the EU about a new set of tariffs. The tariff warning added to a broader risk-off mood that has periodically weighed on digital assets alongside equities when trade-policy uncertainty surfaces.

Since then, bitcoin has been unable to produce a meaningful recovery and was still trading around $64,000 at press time. Its market capitalization declined to $1.285 trillion, while its dominance over altcoins edged higher to 56.3%, a metric that typically reflects larger losses across alternative tokens relative to BTC during broad market pullbacks.

WLD Leads Altcoin Declines

Worldcoin's native token, WLD, was the weakest performer of the day, falling by more than 10% to $0.34. The decline came even after the project announced a successful $52.5 million funding round intended to expand its World ID infrastructure. Worldcoin, co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, is building a biometric digital-identity network through its iris-scanning Orb devices, and the World ID system is central to its thesis of proof-of-personhood verification at scale.

Other notable decliners included ONDO, down 7%; LIT, down 6.3%; and ZEC, down 6%. The privacy coin moved further away from the $500 mark.

Large-cap altcoins were also broadly in negative territory, though most losses were in the 1% to 2% range. ETH traded below $1,860, XRP remained under $1.10, SOL declined to $74, and HYPE slipped to $57.

XMR was among the few altcoins posting gains. A 2.4% increase lifted the token to $365.

The total cryptocurrency market capitalization fell by around $20 billion on the day and stood at $2.280 trillion on CG.
