Volta Infrastructure has vaulted into the spotlight after securing a reported $10 billion cloud computing agreement with artificial intelligence company Anthropic, marking one of the largest infrastructure contracts awarded to a startup less than a year after launch.

The London-based company, founded only seven months ago, also announced fresh funding that values the business at approximately $2.4 billion. The rapid rise highlights the intense competition to build AI infrastructure as demand for advanced computing capacity continues to outpace supply.

Building Europe’s AI Infrastructure

The reported six-year agreement centers on delivering AI computing capacity from a large data center in Norway. Volta is working with Bitdeer Technologies to develop the facility, which is expected to use Nvidia’s next-generation Vera Rubin AI systems once they become available.

The project reflects a broader shift across the AI industry. Instead of relying exclusively on established cloud providers, leading AI developers are increasingly partnering with specialized infrastructure companies to secure long-term access to power, data centers, and graphics processing units.
