Senator Tim Sheehy (R-MT) publicly turned against Representative Max Miller (R-OH) on Wednesday, calling him a "degenerate sociopath" and urging him to withdraw from his reelection bid before his abuse scandal costs Republicans a House seat.

Miller, who represents Ohio's 7th Congressional District, faces domestic abuse allegations from two women. He has repeatedly insisted he will remain in the race.

"I'm not going anywhere," Miller told CNN on Wednesday.

Republicans face a Monday deadline to replace Miller on the ballot; once that window closes, the party would have no mechanism to substitute another nominee. President Donald Trump has continued to stand behind his endorsement of the congressman, who previously served as a White House aide in the Trump administration before winning his House seat.

In a post on X, Sheehy referenced an alleged incident in which Miller held his daughter's favorite toy "hostage" for 48 hours during a custody exchange.

"What kind of person would treat their daughter this way?" Sheehy wrote. "This guy is clearly a degenerate sociopath."

"Staying in this race makes it far more likely we lose this seat and hand Democrats a majority to impeach President Trump," he added.

Ohio's 7th Congressional District, which Miller has held since 2023, was previously considered a safely Republican seat. Trump carried the district by 13.5 points in 2024. However, according to The Hill, GOP strategists now warn that the allegations have made the seat nearly impossible to hold with Miller on the ballot, as the party clings to a narrow four-seat House majority where even a single lost race could shift control of the chamber.

Sheehy is the latest in a growing number of Senate Republicans calling for Miller's departure. The pressure mounted after Miller's former father-in-law, Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH), broke his silence on Sunday and declared that Miller "should not serve in the House of Representatives."

"He should resign. He should quit," Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS) told Politico.

Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) also said Miller "shouldn't be in office," Politico reported.

On Wednesday, Moreno told CNN anchor Jake Tapper that Miller's ex-wife and daughter had fled Ohio due to safety concerns.

"I sent my daughter, granddaughter, and wife out of state to a secure place until such time as they feel safe," Moreno said, according to CNN.

Days earlier, Moreno described going to a police station to pick up his granddaughter, alleging that Miller refused to hand the child her stuffed rabbit during the custody exchange.

"She has a little blue bunny that she sleeps with. Max would not hand over the little blue bunny. Literally held it hostage for 48 hours," Moreno said, as reported by the Washington Examiner.

"This is the level of total and complete depravity," Moreno added.

Miller denies all allegations against him and has requested that the House Ethics Committee investigate the matter. If Miller remains on the ballot past Monday's deadline and the allegations continue to dominate the race, party leaders would be left to decide how heavily to invest in defending or abandoning the seat.
