L’universitaire et journaliste Sidney Blumenthal a soutenu que le président Donald Trump et sa famille pourraient bientôt être confrontés à ce qu’il a décrit comme l’un des plus grands scandales de son administration, centré sur l’arrestation récente des influenceurs MAGA Andrew et Tristan Tate.

Les frères Tate, qui possèdent la double nationalité américaine et britannique, font face à une extradition pour des accusations de traite d’êtres humains, de viol et de pédopornographie. Ils nient toutes les allégations. Blumenthal a tenu ces propos dans une vidéo publiée samedi sur le réseau de commentaire juridique "Legal AF."

"We have a scandal that is one of the biggest scandals of the Trump administration and its dimensions are literally unknown right now. And there's a call for an investigation, we have not gotten to the bottom of it," a déclaré Blumenthal.

"If you think it's just about the Tate brothers, you're wrong because the Tate brothers' extradition to the United Kingdom is just the tip of the iceberg of what may be the greatest international crime syndicate with the greatest political influence in history… it's about the politics and the network at the center of the Trump world where the Trump world is an underworld," a-t-il poursuivi.

La journaliste d’investigation Nina Burleigh, qui a rejoint Blumenthal pour la discussion et avait couvert Jeffrey Epstein pendant des années, a établi un parallèle entre les frères Tate et le financier déchu. Elle les a qualifiés de "millennial version of Epstein."

Andrew Tate, ancien kickboxeur professionnel, s’est constitué une immense audience en ligne parmi les jeunes hommes en promouvant un mode de vie de réussite hypermasculin qu’il s’est lui-même façonné, avant que ses ennuis judiciaires ne s’aggravent. Sa notoriété en tant que personnalité des réseaux sociaux, avec des dizaines de millions d’abonnés sur plusieurs plateformes, a fait de ses liens politiques un sujet d’attention publique soutenue.

Les frères Tate avaient d’abord été arrêtés en Roumanie en 2022 pour des accusations de viol et de traite d’êtres humains. Selon Burleigh, ils ont été autorisés à quitter le pays après des pressions de l’administration Trump et ont depuis été "welcomed back into the fold" par les alliés du président.

"They were invited to the White House, they were at the Milken conference with Paolo Zampolli, Trump's special envoy for special projects, and they were swatting all over the world," a déclaré Burleigh. "So basically given a free pass by the United States government to our great shame, and they have lived here for the past year and a half."

Burleigh a également mis en avant le rôle de Richard Grenell, l’envoyé du président pour des missions spéciales, qui, selon elle, a "played a key role in springing the Tates from Romania" et était "closely tied" aux frères.

"Rick Grenell went over to Romania and pressured the government to allow these guys to leave the country. So right there, you have material for investigation because that was a foreign legal matter that our country went over and put the thumbscrews to spring these two guys," a-t-elle déclaré.

Elle a approfondi la comparaison avec le réseau d’Epstein : "They're the millennial version of Epstein; they have a type of network that is similar in that it relies on the trading of females and the abuse of women as the glue that connects them to each other. But it's also a financial and political power node that they inhabit."
