Unserious has announced the acquisition of Creepz, one of the most recognizable NFT collections from the 2021–2022 cycle. The deal is backed by entrepreneur and investor Adam Weitsman and was completed with the support of the collection's original founders, placing the lizard-themed brand under new management.

Creepz emerged during the peak of the NFT bull market, when profile-picture collections routinely generated tens of thousands of ETH in secondary trading volume. Like many projects from that era, the brand faced sustained challenges after the broader market contraction that began in 2022, leaving collectors waiting for meaningful IP development.

The acquisition also marks the return of Psychrome, the original creative force behind the Creepz lore. Psychrome will resume leadership of IP development for the brand. As a globally exhibited artist, Psychrome's commercial collaboration portfolio includes Nike, Salomon, Sneaker Con, Staple, Disney, Warner Bros., and Rovio.

In addition to this foundational creative leadership, the Unserious team brings operating experience across consumer brands, entertainment, and enterprise technology. The team has also been involved in major cryptocurrency token launches, including ApeCoin, the governance and utility token associated with the Bored Ape Yacht Club ecosystem that launched in March 2022.

The Creepz deal reflects a broader pattern in which established NFT brands from the previous cycle are being acquired or restructured by new operating teams aiming to translate community and visual IP into entertainment, merchandising, and gaming partnerships.

Unserious used the occasion to issue a tongue-in-cheek statement formally denying the existence of lizard people, their alleged nefarious activities, and any plans for $CREEPZ world domination.
