TRON has rolled out a major software update aimed at improving the technical infrastructure of its blockchain network. According to a statement from TRON, GreatVoyage v4.8.2, also known as Pyrrho, is now officially available.

The new release is designed to improve compatibility with the Ethereum ecosystem while also delivering upgrades to smart contract execution performance, node management, and network monitoring capabilities. The upgrade comes as multiple blockchain networks have sought to attract Ethereum-based developers by improving cross-chain compatibility and offering familiar tooling.

As part of the update, the TRON Virtual Machine, or TVM, has been made more compatible with Ethereum’s Pectra and Osaka upgrades. TRON has also added the CLZ, or Count Leading Zeros, instruction for developers and introduced a new precompiled function for secp256r1 digital signature verification. The secp256r1 curve is widely used in consumer-facing cryptographic systems, including those powering mobile device security and web authentication standards.

The changes are intended to make it easier for Ethereum-based applications to migrate to the TRON network and to improve the overall developer experience.

The release also includes significant infrastructure changes. TRON said its JSON processing infrastructure has been migrated from the Fastjson library to the Jackson platform. In addition, node monitoring and performance metrics have been moved from the InfluxDB system to the Prometheus infrastructure, a monitoring toolkit widely adopted in cloud-native engineering environments.

Those changes are intended to make network monitoring, performance analysis, and operational management more efficient for node operators and developers working with the network.

The TRON team emphasized that GreatVoyage v4.8.2 is a mandatory update. According to the announcement, node operators must upgrade to the new version before 11:59 p.m. on August 16, 2026, Singapore time. Operators that fail to complete the update by that deadline may face node synchronization problems and could lose compatibility with the network.

TRON’s Event Plugin component has also been updated to version v3.0.0. Node operators using the official plugin are advised to update the Event Plugin first and then upgrade their main node software. Operators using custom plugins are recommended to complete compatibility work with the new version as soon as possible.

Experts cited in the report said the update could strengthen TRON’s technical integration with the Ethereum ecosystem, modernize developer tools, and contribute to the network’s long-term scalability and operational efficiency. The report said the upgrade is also expected to improve TRON’s competitiveness in decentralized applications and smart contract development.
