UK stablecoin issuer warns FCA capital rule could destabilize pegs Agant chief legal officer Tom Rhodes argues the FCA's finalized stablecoin regime carries a design flaw: a capital requirement of 1% of issuance that he says borrows a banking tool ill-suited to issuers whose backing assets already sit in segregated trusts. Writing for @OMFIF, Rhodes warns an issuer hitting that ceiling would have to pause issuance while raising fresh equity. That pause, he argues, would create an artificial supply shortage, pushing the secondary market price off peg or driving holders to dump the token. @TheFCA halved the requirement from 2% after consultation, while the EU's MiCA sets it at 2%.
